i,m pretty sure these only exist in Europe... in Africa i,ve heard of investors investing in companies producing their darling products but i've never heard of investors NOT investing in a company producing products they didnt like.... we are just TOO money focused to care about ethics

@real cindano, now why are you making these alarmist predictions? Why BAT is not dying any time soon: 1. BAT not only makes cigarettes for kenyan mkt but contract-manufacturers for other countries in east, central and south africa. 2. Non-advertising does not mean death for the co/industry 3. Tobacco is a naturally defensive sector- puffing may have no health benefits, in fact its harmfull but people will continue to puff away. 4. The revenues for the government in taxes, makes it a huge stakeholder

I think people will continue to smoke irregardless of whatever restrictions in advertisements or promotions are put in place. This is for a very simple reason; smoking tobacco is not illegal, it's a choice and lastly it's very addictive. What i find rather curious is the large number of younger women and teenage girls who are joining the club. Make no mistake, i do know that the habit is lethal and fatalities related to smoking can never be denied.Bottom Line: BAT will continue to make money and pay hefty dividends as long as Tobacco farmers need to earn their livelihoods and smokers have a choice of lighting up.

Mukiha, it is a fact and not a joke. I gave up tobacco years ago, it's negative health effects are just too many when compared to marijuana blocking blood vessels allover, bronchitis, lung cancer, tongue cancer, amputations e.t.c. Actually marijuana is rated by many health experts as a light drug and alcohol is rated more dangerous than marijuana. I understand some people can get addicted to marijuana but from my experience it is unlikely. i think responsible use of marijuana should be promoted rather than discouraged. Tobacco should be banned and BAT turned into a marijuana processing company. I hope to light a small or big one well into my sunset years.

@real cindano well noted, good you said 'restrictive' not 'illegal'. Let me let you into a little secret; the reason i was able to pick BAT at 129&138 was because of fears that the "Tobacco Bill" would kill the industry. See @VVS's signature! It is sad nay tragic that you are still in fear.
