The largest desert in the world was once a tropical rainforest, like the congo or the Amazon!

Has the human accelerated the desertification of mother Africa. A 100 year map comparison. Sad!

mother nature has her own natural cycles at times a dry spell and at times a wet spell. Right now its a dry spell that will take care of the human population. Those that adapt to change will survive those who can't will perish.

The AU has this great initiative of THE GREAT GREEN WALL. A forested belt of about 30km thickness to slow down the Sahara's advance.

Already, Lake Chad is shrinking at a fast rate and the Sahel giving way to the Sahara. The initiative might just save the continent from desertification

Didnt listen to whole clip...however when it comes to climate matters, do not listen too much to archaeologists and anthropologists. Anyone who did elementary geography will tell you the reason Sahara -- and Arabian desert has been dry and will continue to be dry. ---By twist of fate, Earth's rotation and the huge Euro-Asian land mass to the North means all winds passing through Sahara and Arabian region are dry. There are no 'wet' winds either from the Atlantic. So Climate is largely determined by nature of prevailing seasonal winds overflying a landmass - whether wet or dry
