In this regard, it seems His Excellency Mike Sonko has, indeed, set a high bar for both Governors and aspiring Governors.

Could she get a better name for her outfit?

I could be wrong and I hope @mahegoat can advise here. But I think within Kirinyaga, the "ngiciri" name sits right there at the top with the other great names from the county. James Njiru, John Ngata Kariuki, kanyotu, Philip Ndegwa e.t.c. The kind of name that can open any door for you inside Kirinyaga.

Ngirici is not from the Kanyotu family?

A Kanyotu wannabe.I heard he was Kanyotu's KYM and they became very close and along the way he started getting deals and property using Kanyotu's name.Other rumours are that he is Kanyotus son for some mama whom he did not marry.

Kanyotu has no responsible sons I hear hence Ngirichi coming in.

Any relationship to the Kenya Mpya tycoons?

Just this week, both the County Government ambulances and Ngirici Rescue Team were seen at the scene of a matatu crash along the Sagana-Kagio road, of course at different times.

Sadly, the discourse since then has been who came to the scene first instead of the gravity of the accident, what really happened, and the recovery of those injured.

And the people are not happy with this.

The reality is that there can only be one government at a time and if the Woman Representative is sincere in her desire to offer services that are similar to those offered by the county government, she should donate the resources she has to the government.

At the end of the day, there can only be one centre of power in any county or country, and in Kirinyaga, power rests with Governor Anne Waiguru – albeit for now!

The Cat Fight Perspective

If you notice, a grandmother started this when she was forced to pay for drugs for her granddaughter.

Her Excellency’s CEC on Health is a woman.

The Doctor in charge of the Kianyaga Sub County Hospital is a woman.

In the picture, we have Her Excellency, The Lady Doctor in charge, a Lady Nurse, and another woman, probably a patient.

These are all women.

This paints a clear picture that Her Excellency is handling woman affairs with more vigour than The Honourable County Women Representative.

Strike one for Her Excellency Ann Waiguru.

Her Excellency’s Perspective

The data/information/records within the Secretariat of her Governorship show that there are adequate drugs in all Sub County Hospitals.

That the picture is different on site at the Hospitals is therefore a big blot on service delivery for her young Governorship.

It signals disconnect, loopholes, and insubordination within the ranks and structure of her Governorship.

In addition, in this particular case, the Sub County Hospital lies within a climatic region prone to cold weather.

As such, maladies associated with cold weather, like pneumonia, are common.

This means that of all the drugs that should be missing, those associated with treating cold weather based maladies should not be among them.

Mwea, my home area, for example, is prone to high incidences of Malaria and typhoid.

As such, lack of drugs associated with these maladies would be a huge gap in health service delivery for our people.

Conclusion

On the impromptu visit, the Health CEC accompanied Her Excellency.

This means there was a translator between Her Excellency representing the Leadership, and The Doctor, representing the specialists on the ground.

This gave everyone a chance to identify the loopholes and to have them fixed.

That in my opinion is the mark of a Great Governor.

The People of Kirinyaga could indeed have made the right choice.

The Cat Fight continues into the National Arena.

With the "Erection" of Her Excellency Waiguru to Deputy Chair of the Governors' Council, it is now Honorable Purity Ngirici's turn.

Quote:
Kirinyaga Woman Representative Wangui Ngirici was on Saturday elected the Kenya Women Parliamentary Association (KEWOPA) chairperson.

KEWOPA is a membership association of all women parliamentarians drawn from across all political parties - both elected and nominated- in the Senate and National Assembly.

The group also facilitates the networking of women parliamentarians for the socio-economic and political development of Kenya.

KEWOPA achievements in both houses include contribution towards the realization of the family Marriage Act 2014 and the Matrimonial Property Act 2013 and Protection Against Domestic Violence Act.

The association is also credited for spearheading the push for the realization of the two thirds gender principle as proposed by the Constitutional Amendment Bill 2015.

Other achievements include the development of the gender responsive budgeting guidelines for Parliament and the development of a Members Handbook on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights.

This article by Nation is misleading

A question was asked about revenues. The Finance secretary said the city hasnt met its potential because of down times experienced by Jambopay.

Jambopay denied they are the fault and went on to say that the county doesnt pay its internet bills on time so in this instance, there were some 3 days that they had downtimes

Quote:
Last week, Finance Executive Vesca Kangogo told a committee of the Assembly that City Hall has incurred huge revenue losses due to frequent failure of the online system.

Kangogo said City Hall has automated more than 90 per cent of its 136 revenue streams, pushing its daily collections to between Sh80 and Sh100 million, up from between Sh7 million and Sh10 million before the automation.

JamboPay chief executive Danson Muchemi, however, denied the claims, and instead blamed frequent internet disruptions at City Hall and weak enforcement by the county for the continued dismal revenue performance.

Muchemi said JamboPay has integrated its systems with those of City Hall and that any time the internet connection to the county headquarters is disconnected, its operations are also grounded.

“They are not paying for Internet on time. We experience issues in areas such as the instant generation of receipts. We get them from their internal systems so if there is no internet, there is nothing much we can do,” he said.

Quote:
The system, for instance, shows where vehicles are parked in the more than 12,000 parking slots in the city, whether they have been paid for or not and also shows vehicle registration numbers.

“This information is real time, but we still go ahead and download the information and send it to them via email for action,” Muchemi said.

Between February 1 and 15, only 579 out of 14,208 vehicles whose parking fees were not paid, were clamped. Parking attendants who collude with motorists have been blamed for the losses.

The county collected Sh777.3 million in the first 15 days of February with single business permits generating Sh166.7 million, land rates Sh189.2 million and seasonal parking netting Sh81.6 million.

In January, JamboPay collected Sh1.6 billion for the county. City Hall has automated more than 90 per cent of its 136 revenue streams, pushing its daily collections to between Sh80 and Sh100 million, up from between Sh7 million and Sh10 million before the automation.

This, Kengogo says, is still below the county’s potential. The county aims to collect Sh16 billion by June. It had collected Sh6 billion as at mid- February.

At least Sonko can speak/talk to&with investors. I watched African Markets on CNN last week and it had a segment on what Kiambu is doing to support small fruit and vegetable farmers in production, value chain management and value addition. Nyoro represented the Governor for obvious reasons smile

City Hall’s plan to set up a Sh28 billion power plant at the Dandora dumpsite could soon be revived after the county finally acquired a title for the land.

A German investor — Sustainable Environment Management UG — withdrew from the project in 2016 for lack of a title for the 30-acre wasteyard.

This was revealed by Auditor General Edward Ouko in his 2014-15 audit report. Ouko said the investor had asked the county to provide the title before it invests in the project.

The firm was to eliminate the need to relocate the dumpsite by investing in renewable energy using the waste as the raw material to produce as much as 160MW of power daily.

The waste is used to generate methane gas in a renewable cycle.
