Mama mbogas should make no apologies for selling their commodities in the city. Fresh produce is just like any other tradeable commodity in the city...just like clothes, electronics, shares, bonds, etc etc. A mama mboga and a stock broker are all traders in the city and the city needs them all.

This looks like a farmers market set-up. One day a week and they are gone with whatever mess they create. In my area it's on Saturdays in a designated section of the city.

Sometime back mama mbogas and mali kwa mali used to walk with their wares moving house to house, that's classic hawking. We also have hawkers on the major roundabouts on Mombasa road and even in the bars-no problem with that. But turning CBD into Githurai/Gikomba right opposite the Hilton hotel that's ghetto thinking.

Urban decay starts small(broken window theory) and it goes on for years concentrating poverty in the inner city. In the end the same clients(mido-crass) the hawkers are targeting will avoid those parts of the CBD because of crime and congestion, prime corporates will move to other orderly business districts. It's a downward spiral after that. Why did Stanchart relocate their headquarters from Moi Avenue? I'm sure Hilton is also on the way out of CBD.

a good governor right now, should be scheming on attracting Nrb´s CBD Business. it is simple. enhance Service delivery and you have them trooping there. Masaku, Kitui, Naks and Kiambu should open their eyes

Waiguru In Sh51.9 Million Scandal Over President Uhuru Campaign Money

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru has found herself in yet another scandal with county leaders over Sh51.9 million that was raised to campaign for President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election during the repeat president election that took place on October 26.

The Kirinyaga Governor said that Sh51.9 million had been contributed for President Uhuru’s re-election campaigns on 10 October 2017.

The Kirinyaga Couty leaders have challenged the committee handling the money to explain how it was spent since very few campaign activities were conducted in the area.

Mr Peter Kariuki termed the situation as a scandal and demanded the committee to reveal where much of the cash went to since only 10 vehicles were branded and a few roadshows were conducted.

Mr Ephraim Warui says he was involved in the campaigns but doubts that all the money contributed was used for the intended purpose.

However, the County Assembly Majority Leader Mr Murango Kamau, who admitted that he was among the account signatories, refuted the claims saying that the money was well invested in the campaigns.

He also went ahead and said that his committee only received Sh11 million that was deposited in a local branch of Cooperative Bank.

When contacted for comments on Sunday 5 October (?), Ms Waiguru’s phone went unanswered.

Elements of the rebuttal.

Copy and Paste Extract

Yada, Yada, Yada.

Residents and a section of leaders demanded that the committee accounts for Sh51.9 million.

Campaign team said leaders had pledged Sh32 million but only Sh12.24 million was realized in cash.

The statement followed complaints by some leaders that there were very few campaign activities in the area.

It is important to note that neither the governor nor the deputy governor were signatories to this account,” the statement said.

I wish this Waiguru woman would just disappear from the face of this earth.

As for Sonko, I told you people that the guy is an imbecile. Now the CBD looks like Gikomba. I don't have a problem with traders trying to eke out a living by selling their products in town, but there has to be some sort of order. Next will be Uhuru Park being turned into a matatu terminus. Lol. You guys elected an imbecile that is more concerned with pleasing people on social media by posting every little thing he does instead of just doing stuff and letting the results speak for themselves. An idiot is an idiot, in bling blings or in a suit and tie, difference is the same, you can't change genetics.

Now we've lost a brilliant brilliant mind in Governor Gakuru (I've met the guy and he is absolutely brilliant) and we are left with thieving and idiot drug dealing governors. Life can be so unfair some times.

I cannot seem to recall that line about riding, beggars, horses, and wishes.

What was it again?
