Kenya’s East African Breweries said net profit for the year through June rose 6 percent to 8.5 billion Kenyan shillings ($81.89 million), helped by reduced operating costs and a slight rise in sales.

The brewer, controlled by Britain’s Diageo, said in a statement on Thursday that net sales rose 2 percent, while it saved 2.3 billion shillings in operating costs in the period.

net sales in Kenya – which makes up about 70 percent of its profits – were up 4 percent despite higher excise duty and drought-induced inflation. Sales in Uganda rose 7 percent and shrunk 12 percent in Tanzania.

The EABL declared a final dividend of Sh5.5 per share, raising the total payout for the year to Sh7.5 per share.

"EABL has announced plans to build a new plant in Kisumu to produce its Senator brand of beer. The multi-billion shilling factory, expected to be commissioned by 2019, will be funded through debt. The company plans to structure a financing deal with a consortium of local banks."

Time is money, so money is time. Money saved is time gained in reverse! Money stores your life’s energy. You expend your energy, get paid money, and store that money for a future purchase made in a currency.

Not just EABL. Look at firms that have released Profit Warnings... the election looms large.

[Though to be fair to these firms, the prolonged election did cause a lot of uncertainty and losses.
Construction had slowed down, folks were wary and domestic travel/tourism was slow around the election dates, the multiple holidays impose a wage and productivity cost, etc.
Transporters would have locked up their lorries.
Firms like Williamson had equipment destroyed in 2007 would probably idle their equipment or move it elsewhere for the period.
Flower firms in Naivasha had slowed down and let some workers take leave.
Some shops/supermarkets closed early or not open during election day and election eve.
There's a domino effect when there's uncertainty and fear.
It should not be so but that's the new reality post-2007.
Netflix probably did well!]
Greedy when others are fearful. Very fearful when others are greedy - to paraphrase Warren Buffett
