Hayawi hayawi huwa Monday 28th is the effective date. Should you be found using polythene you face a jail term or upto 4m fine The kadogo economy will be badly hit. How to sell nyama, githeri, fruits etc will be a big headache for micro enterprises Meanwhile, manufacturers of biodegradable bags that look exactly like plastic bags suffered a setback after govt said their produts can easily be counterfeited and that it'd be hard for enforcement officers to tell the biodegradable ones from plastic

The ban will be phased so right now it is only the ojwala for carrying things home but the packaging is still plastic for individual commodities in the stores. I completely support this ban and I hope serikali does not relent. Plastics is the biggest polluter. Look at this river in Indonesia:
