Down memory lane.....

The year is 1997. Politically-instigated ethnic clashes have hit Molo, Elburgon and other areas in the RV. Before long a comrade from Egerton university is killed while at home.

The comrades respond the way they know how. Through riots. During the confrontation with cops, a comrade is killed by a police bullet.

The following day, KU students riot in support of their Egerton comrades. Once again, cops are called in to quell the riots and two comrades are shot dead. It would have ended there were it not for one Prof. George Eshiwani, the then Vice Chancellor. He was a Moi sycophant but had a heart in his chest.

On being told that two of his students have been killed, the VC hit the roof. He summoned the Kasarani OCPD who was in-charge to his office and dialed state house. By the time he replaced the phone receiver, Kasarani police had a new OCPD, OCS, deputy OCPD and CID boss.

When the OCPD and his anti-riot brigade went back to the station, they were all arrested. 11 of them were charged with murder. The trial took years with the cops languishing in remand.

Why all this history ? Today in the morning, 11-year old Stephanie Moraa was playing at their balcony in Mathare. A bullet hit and killed her on the spot. The acting interior CS insists police are not using live bullets. Lets not even talk of the many guys being flushed out of their house and tortured badly by GSU. Their crime being living in the wrong places.

Just wish we had an Eshiwani inside Uhuru's government. Only one who has a heart inside their chest.

who was that OCPD? I don't seem to see a change in OCPD at that station during that year, or I might be looking at different info.

He is making the declaration in his capacity as who?

All elected ODM leaders should take this opportunity to come out and address their constituents. I would love to see a press conference of Anyang' Nyongo, Okoth of Kibra, Ongwae of Kisii and all other level headed ODM leaders coming together to talk about the future for their people. They are the elected leaders of their people and the people are not Raila's property. Come out and address your people. Raila is not president but you are elected MPs, Governors, MCAs and you must have a message for the people.

This is creating unnecessary tension in the Country. I think he is planning to call for mass action and demos, then force for a coalition government.

Or he wants to be arrested to legitimize his claim. This is the time to do a Besigye on this man, not to arrest him but to make sure he does not leave the house. Elections have ended. There is no going to Kibra to hold rallies. There is nothing good that can come out of a rally held in Kibra at this time.

Here is a link from human rights watch.

https://www.hrw.org/news...e-force-against-student

We are talking 20 years ago. Long before Nation and standard started publishing online. I remember because I was a student at Moi and we almost went on strike in solidarity.

It was the only time that cops were held to account for use of excessive force. This is the same year cops killed 14 people on a single day during saba saba protests. 4 of them shot inside the all saints cathedral church. The KU incident made Eshiwani a darling of human rights activists.

The 11 cops arrested went through hell. They were all locked up in Kasarani. Together with the thugs they had arrested earlier.

BTW, of the 14 guys killed on saba saba, 7 were from Muite's Kabete constituency.

This is why I have an evil smile when I see Jubilants supporting police brutality. In 5 years time, WSR will be in charge and the shoe will be in the other foot.

No No No. Let the government ignore him. House arrest and other such actions will only make his supporters feel like they have something to fight about. He is slowly isolating himself

He can go to as many rallies as he wishes in Kibra,Mathare etc and address whoever he wants so long as no property or life is destroyed.

If that happens they should be held to account.

Meanwhile how hard is it to arrest Orengo and Muthama?Without this two talking Baba may just shut up.

Arresting them would play into their hands. Should be ignored and allowed to die a natural death. NASA is already disintegrating given the absence today of Kalonzo, Mudavadi, Wetangula, Rutto and Joho. It will likely be business as usual in NASA strongholds of Ukambani, Coast and Western tomorrow.

Governors would be reluctant to join a call to skip work or support chaos in their city since they'll be the ones to foot the bill. In fact, these calls for work boycott will ultimately be counterproductive for RAO as it will start to starkly demonstrate his diminishing national influence.

The path RAO has chosen will only further damage his national/international reputation and isolate him as has started to happen.
All my friends are heathens, take it slow. Wait for them to ask you who you know. Please don't make any sudden moves.
