The sooner the murderers of Msando are brought to book the better.
Given the timing of his death and the pivotal role he played in preparations for the elections, it makes it natural for people to wonder if his death and the forth coming elections have a direct link.
To ask such question shouldn’t be a problem, but to present ones opinions/observations as the truth and only truth is problematic. Equally, being too pessimistic and dismissive of everything from those that one perceives as not (fully/halfway/at all) sharing in one’s political persuasion, regardless, reduces you to a robot, pushing in one direction as programmed by the puppeteers.
All in all, as people who live in a free country, a free world, we must ask question, but ask them responsibly.
In that spirit, I wish to do my part – based on the info available as reported in the media;
Chris Msando had expressed misgivings about his security and reported as much with the police – who had he cited as the person(s) after his life?
Chebukati held a short press briefing at the mortuary yesterday 31.07.17 in which he said Musando was THE corner stone of IEBC ICT program.
In the preceding days Msando had become a regular guest at media houses to expound on IEBC position and preparedness. He had effectively become the face of IEBC ICT dept to the media and by extension the public.
Apparently Msando had a boss in ICT dept – one James Muhato whose designation in IEBC is - ICT director.
Msando is reported to have left his office at IEBC on Friday at about 10pm. Thereafter in the course of the night he is reported to have been driving around Nairobi, at some point with passenger(s) in his car. He was the one driving!
At some points he would stop the car and get out to talk on phone!
At about 3AM he was spotted on Thika road driving with three passengers on board – a 'heavy-set' female on the co-driver seat while two young men sat at the back.
- So who are these passengers and what can they tell us.
- Who parked the car where it was finally found. If Msando parked his car there where did he go after that. Did he walk to a house or did he get into another vehicle?
- What/how was his working relationship with his bosses like?
- Was there any form of an orchestrated tag of war inside IEBC fomented/engineered from outside of the electoral body - by political players?
- In the intervening period has he been called or called any political players and or their surrogates/advisers/cohorts/associates/hang-arounds/persons-with-direct interest in 8.8.17.
- Might he have known any of his IEBC colleagues so involved!
One would expect that Msando shared info regarding the fear for his life with his family members, colleagues at work and close friends – what can these people tell us.
What can be gleaned from his phone call log and other communication traffic to and from his line(s) such as text messages etc in the period preceding his death.
