I gave them all the docs as regards to the car, then they gave me the wrong duty as in, instead of calculating the depreciation as 50% they did with 60% so the duty they quoted was low and KRA realized this so they penalised me for that and four seas wants me to pay up the extra duty + the penalites which is a lot of cash.....mind you they say I have to also start paying for demurrages yet i paid in FULL for their agent fee and port charges way back on 5th may and it was even in excess where by we were to reconcile with them after the car got to me and credit the excess....mpaka saa hii the car is at the port incurring costs....Sad Sad Sad

I am sorry about that, you may need to disscuss with Felix one of the Directors. But i suggest that you pay the extra amount if you have the cash and get the car out to avoid incurring more demmurage costs then you can sort the issue out when the car is out

looks like its important to know the exact date of first registration yourself.... and then you would know the depreciation % ....

..in your case your agents calculated duty for an earlier (pre may) 2004 model where as it's actually a later 2004 model. The difference of 10% depreciation is plenty of chums.

As Nobby says pay to get the car out NOW! sort out ev'thing else later. Otherwise you'll soon require a mini-harambee.

@Centrebolt:this seems to be a case of misdeclaration. It was a 2005 unit but DUTY was calculated as a 2004 unit.Usually in such cases the Agent gets penalised by KRA.CHECK to make sure you aren't paying his penalties.

the important thing to do is to find funds pay all the penalties and get your CAR out, or else 21 days after the arrival date it enters into Customs warehouse now your charges will ACCELERATE and you may not get it out.
I doubt you can get money from the Agent easily but given that you probably have less than 10 days to Customs Warehouse PAY,Learn the lesson and move on
