Former Newcastle midfield hard man Cheik Tiote collapsed and died yesterday just a week after David Kiprotich collapsed and died on Thursday last week while training at Kaptagat, Eldoret.

Since 2016,ten footballers have died while playing and surprisingly eight out of the ten were black!

What is killing very fit and young black athletes?

It could be fatigue and overexhaustion.. I'm worried too

Most of African footballers have wrong age documentation hence we tend to look at wrong area when looking at risk elements in terms of health.
African parents don't know how to say sorry.. the closest you will get to a sorry is a 'have you eaten'

My guess is dehydration. Do they confirm the cause of death through an autopsy?

Tiote ... Muslim no Autopsy the work of Allah!!!

Nigeria's Samuel Okwaraji was the first major on-field casualty in Africa. He collapsed while playing for the Super Eagles in a World Cup qualifier against Angola in Lagos in 1989. An autopsy showed the 25-year-old, who was a law student and on the books of VfB Stuttgart in Germany, had an enlarged heart and high blood pressure.

In Lyon, France, in 2003 when Cameroon midfielder Marc-Vivien Foe fell in the centre circle 15 minutes from the end of Cameroon's Confederations Cup semi-final with Colombia. Medics spent 45 minutes trying to restart the midfielder's heart before he was pronounced dead. His autopsy found that he suffered from hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, a hereditary condition which increases the risk of collapse during exercise.

In April 2017 this year former Gabon defender Moise Brou Apanga suffered a heart attack and died while training with his club FC 105 Libreville.

Other African internationals to die from heart attacks while playing:
Amir Angwe and Endurance Idahor of Nigeria.
Tunisian centreback Hedi Berkhissa collapsed during a friendly for his club Esperance against French side Lyon.

Zambia's Chaswe Nsofwa died during a club match in Israel in 2007 while Cameroonian Patrick Ekeng collapsed and died playing for Dinamo Bucharest in Romania last year.

While quick thinking of a doctor in the crowd at the London club's White Hart Lane stadium in 2012 saved the life of another Bolton player, DR Congo-born Fabrice Muamba. He fell to the ground just before halftime but survived despite his heart having stopped beating for 78 minutes.

Okwaraji passed away barely a year after he scored that comical goal against Washington Muhanji. Kenyans were shocked at his death as they knew him very well. Especially Muhanji.

I doubt age is a factor though Africans are notoriously known for age fraud.

Heart attack vs Cardiac Arrest. I think the latter explains it more than the former.
