A welcome relief BUT why complicate this by calling, they sure don't have enough lines to handle the traffic, a website like jambojets, an app or ussd like the okoa stima one would have been better, lets see how it works.

Correct me if I am wrong.

The 1.1 million is both incoming and outgoing, and I doubt empty containers going back to the port will be charged the same, I think at best sgr will be handling 1/3 of all containers, that will be about 400k containers in 2018.


1.1 m was Incoming (Imports) and Outgoing (Exports) Full Container Loads or Teus 2 yrs ago.
There has been tremendous growth in volume with the addition of a 2nd container terminal whose cargo handling capacity is apprx 500k teus.I have therefore put my 2017 projections at an average 1.6m TEUS.

So if SGR=1/3 of 1.6m ×50,000/= Annual TEUS revenue= 27billion

Now add conventional cargo,(it's billed per weight or volume and not teus) transit cargo (give a low estimate of 20,000 teus yrly)and passenger revenue.


Less the operating costs.. and give us the time.





Passenger service will bear no profit.
Do not count it.
It can't even pay the fuel for the locos.

Forget Passenger then.
Increase wagons and daily frequency, improve timelines to clear.

Cargo alone is good enough business.

They can actually do 10 passenger trains per day (5 from nbi and 5 from mbs) and also do 10 cargo trains each night (5 from mbs and 5 from nbi). That is 20 trains every 24hrs. That way the reli will be well utilized.

How many passing loops does this track have, how many trains can be safely and efficiently deployed every hour on this track, We need the numbers on these queries so as to speculate on the anticipated revenue,
The single track coupled with issues of efficiency and safety will be the bane of this project, How I wish they would have done the double track then open up the rail to different investors of passenger and cargo services

i can wager there will be no inter county train leaving tomorrow, was there yesterday and what is in the article above is a stark contrast to what the seemingly clueless officials at the station told me
