There's an Australian show called Summer Heights High. 7 episodes, 1 season only. One of the funniest shows I've ever seen.
Also check out Arrested Development. It's different but really funny.
Big up to the Tom and Jerry fans. The sound effects alone are ridiculous. I was away from the TV while it was on but I could tell what was happening from the music and the sound effects....classic show!
