The cover given is way much less than the 'medical allowance' they used to get and which was surrendered to the NHIF.

They won't. Mwafika fears the hospital environment. Why do you think even those with good medical covers never go for check-ups?

In addition the biggest headache for many is on admission cases and yes very few Kenyans want to be admitted unless its Nairobi Hospital where the max cover is 4k while the room is 20k.

Outpatient is manageable unless crooks set in with fraudulent claims.

Does this work if you update payment in lumpsum? My old man last paid up in Aug 2015 but needs an operation costing around 200k?

yap with some kidogo penalties and i think a month's waiting period. Please take it upon yourself to pay that premium for the oldman on monthly basis. It is worth it.

when you reactivate an account that payment was not updated, you have to wait for, i think 2-3 months, before you can use the 'card'.

Not sure but I think you wait for 3 months. This am deducing from my experience with my house help. I had not paid for her the whole of 2016 so when I went to pay I was advised to start on that day and pay 3 months in advance and she has to wait for the 3 months to benefit. They did not insist on penalty or arrears but rather reactivated it and treated it as a new case.

I fully encourage payment of this premium especially or our parents.
