The mganga, traditionally, is one who could facilitate the remembrance and practice of linking the cosmic to the particular experience cogently.

Now the mganga's shrine has been desecrated and his/her practice exiled by a rude being focused on the particular.

Isn't this a great failure, and perhaps a dehumanization?

I have little doubt that the political revolution we talk about so oftenly is about the recall of the 'mganga'.

Rediscovery of the mganga, and the creation of an appropriate language...

I don't think the english translations are correct. The mganga has elements of witchcraft and soothsaying/prophecy.

The mganga is someone who has a myth or grand unifying theory for a community/society and facilitates a peaceful understanding of life for all involved.

I think it's a very difficult and delicate job. And vital too...

No. This is the right path. The path to an identity that is alive and is adaptive. It is about freedom.

This is where 'Western' terminology and world view goes wrong. Who is a 'traditional doctor' or what is 'traditional medicine'? What are its methods?

Maybe enumerating people who plied such a trade and their respective methods will help.

Give me examples if you have any, of traditional doctors and describe the methods and issues they dealt with...

Too superficial. This isn't problem, method, treatment comparison. Anyone can talk about superstition at any time because knowledge is always changing.

Maybe you should start with the Asclepion in the BC era, moving through aryu Veda, Tai chi, voodoo, and then towards contemporary practices...

It's definitely medicine and an integral part of the medicinal stock, quite an interesting question though.

No a placebo is not medicine but the placebo effect definitely cures diseases. It is when you take something that you believe will make you better and you actually feel better after taking it. It is actually tricking the mind. I believe it may be how wagangas cure so many people. The mind is very powerful and if you truly believe you will get better by doing anything you have a very good chance of actually getting better.

So then do prayers fall under this category? #AskingForAFriend
