This discussion didn't end. Considering buying Pajero 3200cc diesel vs prado 2700cc tx petrol

A friend of mine has one, the 2700 cc petrol...hates it. It is a bit thirsty and gutless cause of the bulk...
There is a 4000cc petrol..I was a passenger in one from Nairobi to Maua once...it drank about 8,000/- worth of juice, one way. In conclusion, tafuta pesa, get the D4-D diesel version of the Prado. I would even rather have the Fortuner diesel than the petrol.

Once you buy a prado, you stop worrying about fuel and maintenance costs. Otherwise, let him/her buy a belta 1000cc. You will drive all the way to kapenguria and back at a mere KShs 5,000 and service the car for only 3000 with some lose change to buy vice quarter as the car gets serviced

d'oh! d'oh! d'oh!
There is a thing called torque. Look it up. Diesel engines have more of it for comparable displacements.
A petrol Prado and a diesel Prado are two very different animals.

And that 'thing' comes in handy when cruising on steep roads..

You lose on resale value if you settle on Pajero. Prado Diesel D4D 3000cc turbo engine is a better choice, very reliable on and off road, powerful and will fetch u a good resale value. It is however unstable at high speeds from 130kph or thereabouts but one does not do such speeds on Kenyan roads..
As long as you're going to be thinking anyway, think big

times have changed pajero/prado discussions focusing on power and speed, add to that pickups, guys are just obsessed with speed and overtaking.
na hi mambo ya resale value, if one can fork out 3m + for a car is resale value a factor.

back to the gist of the thread, nunua hio prado

I am familiar..
Service interval around 10,000 km..
You need to buy 2X5 litres oil since it requires 9,8 litres(the one I have)..4WD is selectable and auto gearbox can be overridden(tiptronic)..A diesel should be for long
trips and not start/stop town driving..it does about 9,5-10 km per litre on long trips and has good power on steep hills..I am not bothered with resale value.
