It's beyond wealth, when you get money, the next thing is power

Even when power comes with no/little money. Like those MPs wa kitambo

There has been a rumour among transport guys that at some point, our number 2 bought a stake in buzeki group.

This guy has earned his place. He ventured into transport in 2004 when multiple hauliers was the undisputed king with close to a 1000 trucks.

Today, buzeki and multiple each boasts of a fleet of 1,000+ trucks.

If Buzeki gave you his insurance brokerage business, you don't need to do anything else. If you became his trusted relationship manager in a bank, your CEO would have to do as you say lest you walk away with such a hvc.

A while ago, top honchos from MAN trucks in Germany came to see multiple hauliers. They wanted him to switch from Actros. To help him make up his mind, they gave him ten trucks to run for a year. Long story short, he not only switched but also became their dealer. Guess who was the first client he brought on board..... Buzeki.

I think there is a little more than that. I have heard too that Muhoho Kenyatta is very hardworking and is a brilliant businessman and it is evident by the kind of business he has been able to build and run. It also helps that he has had access to some resources.

Not to take anything away from his success but I think he has a live wire connection to some serious resources. I know he was very close to the Mark Too family. His profile starts in 1998 as a manager in Kilifi Plantations. He however finished form 4 in Mang'u in either 1995 or 1996. Or maybe he is just hardworking like Nyachae who was once asked how he bought a helicopter and said, "Nilianza na baiskeli mbili, nikaendelea hivyo nikanunua helicopter."

These are dynasties in the making. Their strategy is amass all this wealth and you guarantee your family will always determine the political direction for years to come. Just like the uhuru and the moi's and now Machozi's

You are right AlphDoti. These are dynasties in the making and after the ball is set rolling there is not necessarily any corruption involved. It is all clean legal business with a lot of smart hard work but what many who are beneficiaries fail to mention is that first advantage.

Many people who attended National Schools especially in the 80s and 90s can testify that there were spots reserved for children of who was who in the Moi government.

All someone needed to succeed was just be an average student and stay out of trouble. If your dad was a parastatal chief or head of prisons or even a DC or PC, you attend Mang'u or Alliance get a decent grade like a "B", attend a top college in UK or US all expenses paid. Return home and find a way to utilize part of your family's 20,000 acres of land to start or fund a business you will be way ahead of 99.99% of most Kenyans. You have not engaged in any corruption, you will of course need to be smart to run a successful company but as you encourage others to work hard so that they can succeed be conscious of that little advantage at the start.

@kusadikika, luck is over-simplifying, excuse used by those who do not understand. Similar to "witchcraft" to our forefathers for unknown disease.

What is actually required is "You only need to be slightly better than your competition, but if you are able to maintain a slight edge today and tomorrow and the day after that, then you can repeat the process of winning by just a little bit over and over again. And thanks to Winner-Take-All Effects, each win delivers outsized rewards... Small differences in performance can lead to very unequal distributions when repeated over time..."
