As per what Bob Collymore said, unlimited internet leads to a hockey stick effect in the usage of the pipes without an equal amount of revenue. So many people will start torrenting movies throughout the day. Wireless has a smaller capacity as compared to fiber. In the US everyone has wifi in their homes so there will always be a substitute when it comes to the heavy lifting bob and safcom are just out to make as much cash as possible especially in the absence of any tangible competition. If its only torrents, can't the same be blocked, kenya and the west are different in that infrastructure in ke is minimal, thus in the case of internet, provision of the same to majority can only work via mobile data. Block torrents tena? Am not spending more money on buying movies. Btw internet in Kenya is cheaper than the west. $70 per month for 8GB on Verizon. For half the price you will get 12GB (Ksh3,000)at Safaricom and it carries over the next month. If you have a 4g sim card, same speeds I have never understood how mobile contracts work especially in the states, but I think they bundle sms, calls, phone payments in those charges. can someone from majuu confirm The contracts are mainly to reducing financial burden when buying a new phone. Instead of laying down a whole $1,200 for a new phone, you can get a 2 year contract to spread out the payments in those two years and in turn you stay with the network for that period of time at least. If u leave earlier you have to pay for the remaining amount plus contract termination fee. The monthly phone payments are then added to your regular phone bill which usually comes in form of data, calls and sms bundled for a specific price. Just like Safaricom post paid option. If you go past your data limits you get charged extra. I think that's a basic explanation
