Savings that go to the government to be plundered and a few individuals to squander wont help the ordinary mwananchi and the general economy. Savings should support investments in order for the economy to benefits.

This will pull in the masses. At 10% coupon they will come in droves. The timing is perfect for the govt since they need the cash. Wanjiku on the other hand is barely beating inflation. Returns need to be higher.

Few details, but if investors will have to pay mobile transaction charges, it will have mediocre return, regardless of tax status.

Wanjiku wont know that, will she? In the end even mama mboga will understand inflation, GDP, interest rates and effects of fiscal policies on her bottom line.

Not to mention learn how to acquire investments. Perhaps leverage too.

Isn't the 0.1% commission of sales saf and airtel are getting supposed to cover transcation costs?

With a max 140K, buying and selling cabbages would surely give higher returns in a year

I found a lot of information on www.m-akiba.go.ke
Terms and conditions seem abridged; not so helpful. I can't seem to find the prospectus on the website nor on CBK's. If anyone does, please post but the initial issue may have been fully subscried by then.

Interest is earned daily. If have preferred otherwise. But then I'm not the one selling.
Secondary trading charges 0.535%
They allocate you a random broker.
Mobile money charges (which they claim are discounted):
- Safaricom: www.m-akiba.go.ke/safaricom.pdf
- Airtel: www.m-akiba.go.ke/airtel.pdf

What happens to savings kept in a bank account?
They are lent to a few individuals to enrich themselves. Then the interests charged is shared by a few more individuals (shareholders) who also enrich themselves!
