Democratic People's Republic of Korea - otherwise known as North Korea has been biting quite a chunk.

Since the beginning of this year, they have launched missiles some landing just off Japan Coast.

They have had the Half brother to their leader, who is in bad books with Kim Jong Un, killed by use of a banned and dangerous chemical weapon.

They have sparred with Malaysia in an unsettling way.

They have barred Malaysia citizens who happened to be in North Korea from leaving.

They have threatened to strike Japan and US interest with missiles.

As a result US is deploying anti missile defence system (THAAD) into the Korean peninsular, which in turn is unsettling to China!

These can't be anything else but war games!

North Korea senses that Trump is creating a power vacuum in the area by saying Japan should pay for its defences etc. The North intends on filling the gap.

As has become the norm, the DPRK is using sabre rattling as a diplomatic tool.

And as usual the United Nations through China will negotiate a deal for food and forex in return for a stand down in military activities.

I don't see a significant change from the status quo.

I see the chinese hand in all this. Use N. Korea to create discomfort in Asia, then position itself as the only party able to bring them to the table.

Use that influence to leverage against the Trump presidency.
