I dont understand why they dont vuka to little or become private? If Uber doesn't pay enough, go where the money is better.

Fools, that is the only way to describe them. Uber will win this one, they can wait as they have little to no overhead.

Yesterday i was in Westlands going for a meeting in Lower Kabete .. Danish Refugee Council offices. I asked the kawa taxis and the fare range was 1-1.5k .. and they feel nothing/they just go back to their idling group gossip. Uber took 450 bob. Who is fool who?

They are fighting a losing battle - technology and innovation is the way to go!!!

The Uber strike is driver initiated. Most owners are ok with revenues but off course a few greedy ones are riding on flimsy driver demands

@AA vie for the presidency of Kenya of course and promise:
1.To abolish all private taxis and matatu's and replace them with government owned ones, where all Kenyans will buy shares.
2.Kill all makangas without any due process.
3.Quit after one term.

and I promise me and my whole clan will not only vote for you but also make you one of us!

That's like asking why doctors can't quit public sector for private sector if they want better salaries

But Uber has the upper hand. There's more vehicle supply than they can take

Uber Kenya has increased fare prices by raising the minimum fare to Sh300 from previous Sh200 in Nairobi and fare per kilometer from Sh35 to Sh42. This is the first time Uber is increasing its price after a series of cuts in response to local and international competition.

The company has also raised minimum fares in Mombasa from Sh150 to Sh200, Sh42 from Sh35 per kilometer and base fare to Sh70 from Sh50.

Uber says their pricing structure is designed to encourage more riders on the road and to help increase trips for drivers.

“We believe driver-partners will earn more as a result of these changes and that riders will continue to enjoy access to a safe, affordable and reliable service,” Uber Kenya said.

We're updating our fare prices

Uber works when both riders and driver-partners are benefiting. Riders need safe, reliable transport and drivers need to keep earning. We believe that riders and drivers should have transparency and certainty around our prices.

Prices are designed to encourage more riders on the road, to help increase trips for drivers, but equally, you want to make sure the basic economics of drivers are sustainable. We have always promised to closely monitor driver-partner’s economics, keeping cognisant of how inflation and fuel prices can affect drivers using our app. We continue to stand by that promise because Uber succeeds when our partners succeed.

That is why today we are raising our prices in Kenya. We believe driver-partners will earn more as a result of these changes and that riders will continue to enjoy access to a safe, affordable and reliable service.

when you hail then cancel outside of the time allotted for cancellations or when you hail and the driver gets to your location and waits for more than five minutes without you showing up, he/she can drive off and your a/c will be surcharged and amount added to your next trip
