I think the first time i have seen a drop in PAT for the 9 years i have held this great dividend payer courtesy of a higher excise duty charge.

BAT is very cheap compared to some firms that make losses year in, year out even after selling land, landing slots, planes, etc. BAT pays solid (generally increasing) dividends & has done so for decades.

Just imagining how NSE was between 1963-2002.BAT and EABL were the darling stocks of those days.Someone who took a good position in BAT is now rich.

Other good stocks in those years were standard chartered bank,
barclays,bamburi and NMG.Those who took long term positions are now rich.
Currently if someone choose from Equity,Kcb,Co-op and Safaricom for long term,he will be wealthy.
