From my limited reading I have gathered that the budget of the UNEP is more than US$600 million. Nairobi being the headquarters of UNEP I assume a lot of that money ends up in the city and has a big effect on the economy of the city.

The US is the biggest contributor to the UN. Tomorrow Donald Trump becomes the president. There has been talk that the US already pays too much to the UN and Donald Trump does not care too much about the environment.

Is there anybody who has any projection on what the Donald's presidency will have on the UN and in particular UNEP? What effect would say a 50% loss of funding for UNEP have on the economy of Nairobi? Rents, property prices, 2 Rivers Mall?

As to the UN, things will be different after January 20th.

Very minimal considering most of their expenditure is on expat salaries where very minal amount is spent by the expats here in Kenya.

$600M is a mere 60birrion translanting to only 15 afyamafia scandal excluding Kabura's gunny bags
If Obiero did it, Who Am I?

A weaker UN is catastrophic for Developing and Emerging economics. While the developed nations have OECD to set the tone for economic issues, the developing world only has the UN as a platform to lobby for preferable social economic issues.

The death of the UN might however help the resurrection of continental and regional blocks.

A more assertive AU in my opinion represents Kenya better than the UN.
Life is short. Live passionately.

same AU which depens on UN for funding? Is it therefore correct to say that if UN dies, AU will follow it shortly?
