Meanwhile just our Drs go for greener pastures out there......can 254 be greener pastures for Drs from other countries?
Can we invite them to work in our hospitals?Have seen a few from Burundi and India working in private hospitals and they seem ok with a Salo of circa 200k. Doctors have been sharing heart-rending stories about their working envt. Trust me its not about money. Working for GoK is the closest one can get to hell. And don't even start that thing of health being devolved. Imagine a theatre with no running water and the docs have put a plastic jerrican with a hole at the bottom. Imagine a young doctor whose house girl walks out on her and she receives an emergency call. Looks at the expectant mother who requires emergency CS, and gets her young baby on her back and walks into theatre. Or the young guy posted in mandera, gets an accident at Mwingi, taken to knh as an emergency, not attended after two hours, family takes him to avenue where he accumulates 0.6M in bills with no insurance cover. After discharge the dms tells him to report back to his work station. The fact that he needs physiotherapy for two years is not the govt's problem. So no, there is no one willing to run to hell. What would they be running away from ? sp the issue is not 300% payrise but the working environment. Can that be changed overnight? Can it be worked on as they continue treating us?Ama ciaigana ni ciaigana? Seems fair, ukitaka kazi una apply, so that latter you won't start complaining sijui hardship, sijui facilities. It's good since it will be up to the counties to go out of their ways to attract the docs, na hi mambo ya herd mentality for the docs iishe.

Not what is right or wrong. Doctors have no votes compared to the affected citizens so they don't care about doctors. Matiang'i has no votes, that's why they side with KNUT and in extension parents of students. i.am.back!!!!

Direct posting ensures that doctors take jobs in not so attractive locations. If its apply, who will apply to work in Mandera etc? Business opportunities are like buses, there's always another one coming

An unbiased reading of this CBA between government and KMPDU of June 2013, does indeed show: https://files.acrobat.com/a/prev...e-4ace-907d-72ffdb4c976a1. as with most strikes, primary issues began with Union Rights and checkoff from members 2. no agreement was reached on some items, with them being enclosed showing different positions (job groups, residency, internship) 3. salary & allowance proposals (~300%) suspended until such time when SRC will provide clear guidelines Can government continue to train/pay/develop a worker class who they can't manage? Can doctors work with civil servants who have made political pursuits (governors, MPs, MCAs, etc) the only worthy ones in Kenya? If both sides have a case, how does everyone get out of this muddle?

Let those doctors who dont want to work for govt quit. Let them go into private practice and earn that 1m they are demanding. A starting salary of about 200k offered by govt is good by any standard, now that many docs work in smaller towns where the cost of living is low.
