Is voting for a luo the magic bullet? The luo in luo-land voted for luos as governors and are also suffering. Health is devolved and managed by the governors.

No it isn't. It is voting for your well being, the economy and socio-economic system around you; recognizing that the person who puts these things first should be the one you vote for, not because of tribe, familial affiliations, religion or other nonsense that have no relation to selfless, clean and efficient public service.
Ideas and ideals transcend people, and every community has its share of bad leaders and criminals. Voters must resist the subterfuge used by politicians to create diversions and enemies, be they from within their tribes/communities or without and instead look at hard facts, track record and especially examine what they have done with funds laid at their disposal.
If any incumbent leadership were scared of losing power cause of corruption and non-performance, some heads would have rolled already. Some people would be cooling heels in jail. But they know Kenyan voters are easily misled and confused with sideshows and trivial enmities. Just the other day, some hapless people laid a ceremony for that fraud doctor, beseeching him to run for MCA. In other news, that Wa-??whatshisname rapist quack-doctor is also running for an elective seat -MP I think. I would not be surprised if they got elected. Our appetite for entertainment and the macabre and blatant disregard for societal well-being is astounding. Masses cheer. How is one supposed to find empathy for these same masses when the people they put in power turn around and screw them?

Deep stuff there...

Nice piece @quicksand. So let these masses elect people to screw them (us included in this case) until there is absolutely nothing left to screw. Until then, "we" the gullible voters won't listen...

Everything gets worse if not maintained. Magugu invested alot in Githunguri before he sunk into insolvency.

LIE LIE LIE LIE

Magugu was the best MP for Githunguri since independence.

He diverted projects from national programmes to develop Githunguri. He built TARMACKED roads in villages and Technical schools all over Githunguri.

He also organized wazee to buy properties in Nairobi (Thome and Garden Estates) and Gilgil.

He had his fault too, but, who doesn't?

Yet even the hardened paramedic crew are unnerved and shocked and not sure how to remove their patient, who has a large timber pole measuring about 1X1 that entered his chest and IS STICKING from his back, i.e he was impaled when the vehicle he was travelling in hit a vehicle carrying timber, no one can explain how it missed the heart...the first nurses at the scene outside A&E scream involuntarily in horror the instant they see the patient. John Lichuku -for that is the name of the patient- played for the national team, he survived due to the hardworking KNH medics only to die 2 years later.

She will need counselling, she cant believe she's lost vital limbs when life is just beginning...yet the meidcs have treated so many pple their legs crushed to pulp by trains but who never make it to evening news...

So many cases.

I sat at A&E where I had once taken a friend, and deeply appreciated what these pple do, and the countless lives they save.
I say give them whatever they want NOW - at least they have earned it professionally and academically.

On point. But I don't agree with the medics refusing citizens these good care due to salary issues. What happens of the above cases turned up at A&E today?

And do you think our current leaders are affected by these? No one will miss a salary or nyama because of it!

Were they thinking the same when they did fraud with the 3b afya scam

They should go back to work, and Kenyans should go back to common sense come 2017.

That wont happen in Kenya for a loooooonnnnng time.

Why are opposition leaders not very vocal on this strike?

Meanwhile just our Drs go for greener pastures out there......can 254 be greener pastures for Drs from other countries?

Can we invite them to work in our hospitals?Have seen a few from Burundi and India working in private hospitals and they seem ok with a Salo of circa 200k.

Doctors have been sharing heart-rending stories about their working envt. Trust me its not about money. Working for GoK is the closest one can get to hell. And don't even start that thing of health being devolved.

Imagine a theatre with no running water and the docs have put a plastic jerrican with a hole at the bottom. Imagine a young doctor whose house girl walks out on her and she receives an emergency call. Looks at the expectant mother who requires emergency CS, and gets her young baby on her back and walks into theatre.

Or the young guy posted in mandera, gets an accident at Mwingi, taken to knh as an emergency, not attended after two hours, family takes him to avenue where he accumulates 0.6M in bills with no insurance cover. After discharge the dms tells him to report back to his work station. The fact that he needs physiotherapy for two years is not the govt's problem.

So no, there is no one willing to run to hell. What would they be running away from ?

sp the issue is not 300% payrise but the working environment.

Can that be changed overnight? Can it be worked on as they continue treating us?Ama ciaigana ni ciaigana?

Cord only cares about votes. Not what is right or wrong. Doctors have no votes compared to the affected citizens so they don't care about doctors. Matiang'i has no votes, that's why they side with KNUT and in extension parents of students.
