MY PREVIOUS POST FOR YOUR AWARENESS

FOCUS IS THE KEY FOR OFFSHORE INVESTMENT

Why Trade Offshore ?
The main reason is to spread your risk accross different economies and across different currencies.

When you decide and open an online account, decide on which sector to trade. It is viable to trade on industrials in US market, Mining/Resources stocks in Canada / Australian market,Gokd, Banking. Property and Oil & Gas in Hong Kong.

You may find your preferred stock crosslisted in another market this gives you opportunity to trade on your chosen stock in another market. For example BHP Bilton, a world leading mining stock with primary listing in Australian market is cross listed in South African, US and London market . It is your choice on which market to trade on. But you have to follow the stipulated regulation of the country the stock is listed to register for online trading.
You havee a very high chance to succeed if you trade on blue chips and sector leaders, as they are the pulse of the market and on the long term major indices tend to rise year in year out.

It is a wondeful experience to trade overtdseas especially outside Africa.
Have a look at a few big stockbrokers :=

All online accounts are nominee accounts.

Dividends are credited to your broking account.
With this you do not need a bank account to receive dividends.

Opening of an online account is a different from funding your account. In hong Kong you are given up to six months after your account is opened to fund your accounts.

TRANSACTION COST

This is a cheering news, HNK has one of the lowest rates in the world.

It cost less than one percent of the volume to either buy or sale.
There are no discount brokers in Hong Kong. Discount brokers are the ones that have a fixed rate of transaction cost irrespective of the volume of transaction.

MY SIX YEARS EXPERIENCE IN HONG KONG MARKET.

Our greatest Glory is not in never falliong but rising evey time we fall

Quite unlike you reading this article, I had no guidance I just dived into the market with neither focus nor strategy.

1st Disaster 2005 - 2006
We opened a joint account first with Taifook and later with KGI in early 2005.
As true black Africans our first pick was penny stocks. We swooped on a large voulumes starting with the minimum HNK$10,000 and within four months we made 60% gain.
We used the gain buy some units of another penny stock. That was the begining of the disaster, the stock went virtually valueless.
We did not recover from there.

Second Attempt 2006 - 2008

We funded our accounts back with the minimum. Became wiser as we realised it is better to have a few units of something than a large units of nothing.

This time we positioned on China biggest bank by market cap ICBC (ode 1398) at HNK$3.95 it rose to 5.57 in 2008 but unfortunately the rise was erased by world economic melt down in late 2008.
It went as low as HNK 2.98 .
We waited and sold iot in Feb 2009 at 3.90.

Back To Business (3rd Attempt) 2009 to date.
I did lots of reading and research on oil and gold stocks and we took a bold decision that hencefortth in Hong kong market we will focus on Gold and Oil.
The good news is that since june 2009 we have grown our HNK portfolio by 60% by positioning at intervals to buy and sale gold and oil stocks based on research and on stocks that responds positively to Oil & Gold prices in the spot market. So far the accuracy is 99.999%

So for now till 2015/16 I am in Hong Kong market for Oil & Gold counter.
Investors lounge articles by Mzee KK is a good source of info on the most likely direction of oil and Gold prices, but you must also understand the violatility and the underlying reasons. as it is not always upwards rising or downward sloping.

MY LONG TERM STRATEGY ON OVERSEAS & AFRICAN MARKET.

I buy long term in African markrt because the market is not as violatile as advanced world if you position on blue chips or market leaders.

In advanced world, I do a calculative speculating not more than three threads in a year.

In Hong Kong I will continue to focus on Gold and Oil stocks that is highly captilized and positively skewed to the spot market prices.

Simply put, I am in Hong Kong marklet for Oil and Gold equities to build my nest egg. There is no gold counter in most African markets except IAMGOLD in Botswana market, and numerous ones in South Africa, Gold Resources limited of Ghana

OURS MAY NOT BE THE BEST STRATEGY BUT MY ADVISE IS DEVICE A STRATEGY IN TERMS OF WHICH STOCKS AND WHICH SECTOR BEFORE YOU VENTURE INTO OVERSEAS MARKET TO AVOID LOSSES.

COMPARISON OF TAIFOOK AND KGI STOCK BROKERS.

User Friendliness := I give it to KGI
Quality Of Research:- Give it to Taifook
Online Infrastructure :- KGI. In Taifook you cannot place order before 7.00 am HNK time.

Account Management :- KGI. It gives daily interest on idle funds using prevailing interest rate.

Size:- KGI, is a regional broker covers Taiwan, Thailand

Customer Service
:- Taifook

CONCEPT OF LOT SIZE, SPREAD

Asian markets are unique in the sense that

- Orders are valid for one day
- You cannot buy any quantity of stocks it depends on lot size
- You cannot queue buy or sale order at any price, it is limited by the spread

- Trading hours is from 9.00am to 4.00 pm hong kong time.

GOLD AND OIL PRICES MID 2009 TO DATE

Mid 2009
Oil price was USD 35 per barrel
Gold Price was USD 800 per ounce

MAY 2010
Oil Price 75 USD Per barrel
Gold Price USD 1210 Per ounce

So any IDIOT (like me) who positions at the right Gold or Oil stock in Hong Kong markrt is expected to make gains in respective blue chip stocks.
