Thomas Szasz has a book called 'age of madness' and in it he shows how puritans had to create heretics to maintain their identity, and how those who were privileged in the age of reason had to create madness and enforce it.
So, what are the dynamics that have brought this thread's title? The 'middle class' and the 'elites' having constructed a world according to their narrative are'nt keen to expand their view and lose their identity.
Now since we're talking about an economist and his political role, and how he's on demand through the political divide I aver that by relying on professionals people tend to lose the controls they hoped to gain in the first place.
Thus even this spat on twitter and maybe even its progression here is testimony of how much reason has contradicted and destroyed itself...
