Very saddening to note that this choho doesn't know how the govt works. I think the govt needs to run educational courses for some of these governors so that they understand govt operations.

In my limited knowledge there are two ways tthe WB works with the govt
1.Govt identifies projects and approaches WB for financing
2.WB identifies projects to finance and approaches govts for approval and concurence.

Swali ni who identified the projects Joho is talking about?

Total bullshit. Yaani total mavi. Even small kids and tourists who landed in Mombasa this minute can see that Jubilee is building Bara bara ya gorofa ya kuenda airport. This is just hollow bravado and infantile antics that in the real sense even demeans the seat of county governor. There is also a miritini interchange that will ease our exodus to mambatha that is under construction

Aaah I don't get why guys are worked by what Joho has said, it was not disrespectful or rude, plus it was true the project was financed by world bank, plus tur very few grand projects financed by GoK to benefit Mombasa county, the airport road by (I don't remember) SGR china, drainage, water, mass lighting non motorized infrastructure by world bank.
By the way Mombasa is disadvantaged by the current revenue sharing, it actually produces more than it gets back ie it's disadvantaged in area, population, it can not be classified as among the poorest, Joho did nothing wrong here.

I'm now believing that there is a lot of misinformation in wazua republic. Last time I went to Mombasa airport there must have been a signboard somewhere along the road to the airport. The signpost clearly indicated that the road development is a gift to the Mombasa people from the British government. I had to find a site to back this up. Here it is!!. I know the article says KeNHA(GOK) contributed $10m. They must have been pushed by the Britons. Our government do not have the Mombasa people at heart. Foreign govts and organizations have to push them to make things happen. That road has been in poor state for the longest time yet it is used by tourists from all over the world.

For the Coastal region and other regions considered to be hostile to the government, it is the later.

Coast has long been neglected by Central Govt partly because coast leaders were not development conscious just noise and petty politics (think kina Shariff Nassir, Mungatana etc).

High poverty levels, high illiteracy , poor infrastructure have been characteristic of the region but the Kibaki vision 2030 changed things - improved road network, port modernisation, new terminals at the airport, economic zones, tax incentives to developers of hotels, planned developments & manufacturers, free primary education, SGR, rehabilitation of drug users have had an impact at the Coast.

During the years of Central Government neglect, the region fell into the hands of the Indian/Arab cartels at Mombasa and the Italian cartels of Malindi/Watamu.

The Indian/Arab cartels economic power is derived from port operations & associated logistics business, real estate plays, narcos... These guys literary own Mombasa, have a stronghold on the County Government. Remember these are the guys who kicked Balala out of the mayor office. Their tentacles extend to police, intelligence, KRA, anti narcotics, Judiciary, the mosques etc. Commissioner Marwa is their number 1 enemy.

The central government has had a long struggle to wrestle back the coast from cartels - quelling riots, raiding mosques, raiding narcos, makueniing overlords...

It is no secret whom kafana 001 represents. What the kafana needs to do is show the people of county 001 what he has done for them apart from running a parallel extortion ring at the county govt offices.

Mombasa ina wenyewe. People of County 001 can relate to what I am saying.

On the other hand the Central Government needs to invest heavily at the coast region because Kenya needs a strong coast to grow. Coast is the gateway to the world not only for KE but also the hinterland plus the mining, tourism and fisheries sectors have a huge potential.
Life is short. Live passionately.

Reading the posts here and trying to reconcile with the Joho I know is very confusing.

Lest we forget, Joho is a hugely popular, young, wealthy, kafana of Mombasa who is guaranteed to return for a second term Mpende Msipende.

The correct question should be did Uhunye take credit thats not his to take???

Poor Balala, supporting the wrong side, he will have to wait for crumbs yet again.
