Apply for a government post in lucrative ministries ie lands, energy, irrigation, Devolution etc…despite the job group as u know the govt has very good sponsorship programs for advancement….not to mention that the kickbacks + facilitation fees, per diems you will make will add up to a very “ GOOD SALARY”….hapa ndipo pesa ya BURE IKO! 2. Go the jua kali way as by the time 2-3 years are gone u will have made you mistakes learnt the ropes not to mention the ample time you will have to try so many other ventures and to grab opportunities when they crop up…not to mention that you can apply for the some tax exemption categories that apply for this sector…woii wacha tu!....I mean I know of a mama who got into the mafuta business supplying the mutindwa residents from her buruburu abode..i mean after hawking mafuta from 8am to about 3pm the mama would have a kaloose change of about 50-100k depending on day of the week..now she is a proud runda resident who employed hubby as the MD after only 2 years of hawking mafuta ya stovu!! Add this storo to aguy who is a VVIP to KRA as one of the biggest taxpayers after he decided to weld peoples gates for a living only to have a biz 2o years later that transacts about 3M daily in sales selling sweeping brooms, screws to cement!..such stories make me wonder where my old man n lady were when such decisions were made by their agemates!! 3. Become a toyboy aka gigolo for an expense free life courtsy of mulad mamas of top bizmen/politicians/tenderpreneurs etc…I mean all u have to do is hit the gym 2 hrs for 6 days/week..the vigour those chumas will give u Swenani haweskimake….i mean with a grooming allowance, car of choice shopping at CMC,DT Dobie n such names, monthly allowance, upkeep fee, club membership oh my why not..and all for keeping the youthful health!!! quot; :d/ :d/ :d/ :d/ Those are the only means as for the lie od digriis in Kenya its such a lie that when you discover it I donno how many MBA’s later man you youth is gone and all there is the middle-age bitterness so common in our cities its pitiful! As for majuu mimi hiyo siyui after some fala brond at the US embassy asked me a dumbsit Q afew years back when I tried to apply for a student visa ave neva gone back since not to mention I have been everywhere else!!! So youngman be dually advised! ebu link me,I can go to the gym once linked up @ Swenani u r already linked up...si u r voting for Martha so kuna vile u r on the right track...just hit the gym my brotha!!! That will be a conflict of interests,I do not like mixing pleasure with Biz and vice versa I'm a professional ..brav o my brotha u ave just confirmed the thinness of that line called biashara....hiyo huwa tamu sana coz u can multitask na hakuna positioning unasema mabo yalivyo!!!!! hit the gym Swenani uwache maneno mingi! I found meaningful work🤓

You live according to your means. I was able to save and buy land on a 36K salo per month when I was starting out. Even as my salo improved with my career my saving improved and the projects increased in size but my living expenses also followed suite. The best approach is keep living expenses to a minimum and save actively and I would also say aggressively.

I think any bachelor/spinster earning a net of 300k is earning a good salary. A family with one child having a net of 500k are doing exemplary well...in fact, I think with such figures, they are in the top 5% of the population. That is just my layman opinion. I know wazuans are generally rich so dont crucify me for my thoughts.

No crucification: Instead of trying to determine an overall net income, maybe you should determine net income based on where you want to live. Do you want to live in Karen, Westlands, Ngong road etc. Some places are expensive than other places. But $3K/month is a reasonable income even for single expatriates and $5K for a family. You would certainly be in top 5%.

Since one should pay no more than 1/3 of their net pay as rent, and a good stand-alone house in a leafy suburb goes for 250k per month, then a good salary should be at least 750k net, or about 1m gross.
For a middle class guy/middle level employee living in a 80k apartment in kileleshwa etc, a net of 240k or 300k gross would do.

The question is, what is the average salary that will be considered good. the question is not, what should be the average salary that is considered good.
In order to come up with this number you have to look at job/careers that are considered "good" globally, the middle class type jobs. Finance manager, Doctors, engineers, IT( with bachelors), business managers etc.

A gross of 300K gives you a net of 300*0.7+5500=215.5K. Even with a net of 300K and renting in the likes of Kilimani(say a 3br) you will really struggle.. or if you don't, you will save nothing. You will basically be living from hand to mouth. The question is so general.. because there are factors like where you are staying, size of your family and whether you have school going children "The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence." ― Charles Bukowski

After paying rent, assuming a family of 4(Husband, wife and two kids) an income of 240K should be enough including taking the kids to LIALA SPLINGS and be able to still save upwards of 100K p.m. Ama, how do people spend their money? I could be missing out on life unless people are drowning in debts! If Obiero did it, Who Am I?

Assume ksh 300K net salary: Monthly expenses Rent 95K Food 30K(Very very conservative) Shopping 20K Fuel(Assume 2 cars) 20K Fees 30K (per term 60K per child,120K per term(2kids)/4 months=30K) Water+ stima 10K Entertainment 20K 235K. Now you have 65K left. This is a must every month Contingencies?? Sacco?? Relatives?? Savings??? In my opinion, 300K net can only afford you fitting life in Kile/Kilimani if you live in your own house. Otherwise you will need to change lanes and do with langatas/South B/C/Ruakas/Burus etc "The problem with the world is that the intelligent people are full of doubts, while the stupid ones are full of confidence." ― Charles Bukowski
