Guys, you don't get it. Its a GENUINE NOKIA. What these guys do is that instead of buying nokias from the Kenyan dealer, they source them privately from outside, via Dubai or wherever else coz its cheaper for them, so its 100% nokia. Typing in *#0000# does give me the phone details. These phones however are incommpatible in some way with our telcom system so you may find that some features don't work well. It will still do the basic calling and sms stuff but considering that one buys a phone mainly because of the other things that it can do, it feels like you have bought 80% of the good for 100% of its value when you later discover some things don't work.
And by the way, buying from a genuine dealer is not a sure proof way of getting a nokia with warranty. What some shop attendants do is to use the shop premises (genuine nokia dealer premises), to sell the genuine nokia phones (that they have sourced for themselves privately),to naive and gullible customers (like me)who go there believing I can't be conned cause its a nokia dealership. Bottom line, just buy the phone that has a sticker on the box declaring "12 month warranty, valid in Kenya only". Be ready to hear the phrase "hizo haziuzwi siku hizi" or "hiyo ni sticker tu, haina maana".
