The world now says goodbye to a legendary freedom fighter, leader and patriot. Fidel Castro successfully led a revolution inspired by his devout vision of a free, equitable and prosperous Cuba. His success did not stop at the revolution; his government proceeded to successfully implement social policies which have continued to bestow the benefits of the best social services for all Cubans. During the Ebola outbreak in West Africa, Cuba was able to marshall the best medical resources in solidarity with Africa.

Castro also demonstrated to the world that sovereign equality is a paramount idea that must prevail at all times, regardless of a nation’s size, economic or military muscle, or its relationship with the hegemon of the day. He steadfastly defended Cuba and its revolution for decades, and personally survived innumerable threats to his life.

His love for the people of Cuba was selfless and unshakable. His devotion to the idea of freedom and sovereignty of all peoples and all nations spoke through his actions and solidarity.

We learn from this icon that no price is too dear for freedom, shared prosperity and the best interests of our people. We bid goodbye to a great man who led by example, stood firm and loved liberty in thought, word and deed.

We are now left with his legacy and an obligation to continue the struggle for the economic liberation of the South, reform of international governance to reflect our diversity and sovereign aspirations, and an end to exclusion and marginalization of nations and peoples.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.

Uhuru Kenyatta.

(Now you know your president's stand.

The president's stand on how to please the masses with respect to Castro.

Tycho!Wacha hizo. Comandante liberated Cuba from the grips of US lackeys and hagemonic. Stood up to Uncle Sam like no one else for 50 years. Lead Cuba to be the best in medical care. Defended Angola against apathierd SA when Kenya stood with the oppressive regime. His stand against oppression is well documented. These rubbish about human rights is just that rubbish.

Long live the Cuban revolution. Salute to a towering revolutionary of our time. Fare thee well and salute Mao, Marx, Lenin and Che.

Absolutely. Yet there are brainwashed Africans among us who think otherwise.

@Rahatupu, is the US the enemy? Who is?

Castro is a human please lets accord him his respects as a human. Any other human. It doesn't matter if he was the lowest scoundrel on earth, or the most noble.

If we start talking about his ideas and actions, then let's look at them with the seriousness they deserve.

Castro was working with the powers ruling the world. So is the US. So is Kenya!

So am I!

You guys wanted a new look at death, and here it is, why are you all of a sudden getting too squeamish?

@Tycho no one mentioned a "new look at death" anywhere but rather all seem to be eulogizing a legendary human being. Why introduce own questions and agenda?

When Mandela was released, one of the 1st people he visited was Castro. When Mandela was elected president, one of his 1st state visits was Castro.
Why?
Because Castro and Cuba played an outsized role in helping end apartheid in South Africa
