How is this position important to Kenya? How has the outgoing office-holder helped SA? We seem to be spending tons of money lobbying fellow African countries to back the CS.

Muthamaki has been out maneuvered. His deputy holds the real power and influence in Kenya. Muthamaki has resulted to trying to show that he is the most powerful African Leader......and this is one way of doing that....That position is just a liability to Kenya......may be to massage some peoples ego's

Even if it is for ego, I believe Amina deserves it. She is one of the best CS's in Muthamaki's Cabinet. Hard working, no scandal, no drama...and this would be good training for a stab at the Presidency in 2022, ala, Hilary Clinton.

Are you saying that because Ms Zuma turned down a second because many think that she may go for presidency in 2019?

I don't know about Ms Zuma, although there were rumours she was eyeing an important sit in the ANC - which would seem to point to some political ambitions.

I am not sure Amina has her eye on politics either, but I believe 2022 will be a toss up and a competent, untainted, female, Muslim, 'not those people' candidate will have a definite advantage.

No chance for a muslim in Kenya just yet, we have a very strong (probably fundamental) Christian society

You have a point

I remember in the 14 months when M01 had no VP my mum and her friends were fervently praying against the appointment of the Late Dr Bonaya Godana as VP as media speculated that he was a likely appointee.

Then I heard later that Godana was actually a Mkristo!
Laughing out loudly smile Applause d'oh! Sad Drool Liar Shame on you Pray

Don't be too sure. If Amina can capture the Coast, Eastern and North Eastern blocks and benefit from the self destruction of central, rift valley and western vote blocks, she must might just 'pitia kati yao.'

Also don't underestimate the disgust that Kenyans have with the two dynasties that have monopolized politics for most of our independence era. The country is just waiting for a Trump to help them channel that disgust into a revolution.

Trump mainly won as an advancement of the "isms" that he represents so that argument is flawed.

No mater. Amina would make a refreshing change if she ever decides to run for President. I doubt if she has the balls for it though.
