US Elections, Hillary or Trump?

I find this electoral college system very fair. Very representative although probably only applicable in the US where states are practically semi autonomous entities within the Federation. Many people don't realize this but the US president basically has very little to do in the actual day to day lives of American citizens. Even the military command is split between the president and the governors with the governors retaining command of the National Guard. You see democrats have lost two presidencies just like that. 2/3 congress has to vote. Congress is republican. How easy will it be to repeal obamacre? He could try, with the majorities in the houses. However, he would make bitter, lasting enemies of the twenty-something million Americans covered by the scheme; The move would also deeply annoy Democrats, who are now revving their engines to frustrate future Republican efforts to create legislation to back Trump's policies. More fuel to the fire. Closer home, local politicians used Raila's efforts to relocate people from Mau forest to devastating effect. IMHO, there is no such thing as "outsiders" in politics. Not for long anyway. As long as America is not a straight-up dictatorship and everything has to pushed through 2 houses, Trump is about to get served with filibustering and sabotage of the century ...he will realize that executive decisions a'la "The Apprentice" have no purchase and to get anything done he will have to get his hands dirty glad-handing, diplomacy and smoothing ruffled feathers. And that is local American politics. Akina ISIS, China, Syria, Russia, NATO, EU, Britain, North Korea, Japan and Israel are all concocting curve balls as we speak. Newt Gingrich as Secretary of State? Get popcorn. Trump is going to have to become a Washington insider in very short order. What a time to be alive! You are realistic and level headed. I too do not expect a too radical shift from the way things have been, the way they are and the way they will be. But of course it will be naive to expect there will be absolutely no differences in the way things are run at leas for the next 4 years. But whatever internal politics - obamacare and whatnot - that goes on over there for us it will be like a rocking chair. It will give us something to do but not get us anywhere. Its the foreign policy that should interest us because that is what will affect us. Things that are unlikely to change under Trump's rein 1) the economy or jobs - hiyo kitu ni kama mdomo ya nyoka... haina reverse gear. it's unlikely the US will get manufacturing back to where it was - why? it's just too expensive to do stuff in the US. So best case scenario each company has 2 manufacturing base. 1 in the US and another elsewhere. The US base manufactures for the US (local) and the other for the rest of the world. Manufacturing for the rest of the world is in the US under the current setup will not happen. People ask about Germany. Si Germany is doing it? Well, Germany has a brand of cars. i put up a link here that showed that germany is hacking the age problem - you know what else they have hacked? The labour problem - they build machines that make machines. US wants to MAGA so that the blue collar workers with their votes can undo global economics. it's unlikely that the cookie will crumble as they hop it will. anyway... I say let him try. it may just work. he may just hack this. 2) foreign policy - I think the US will change slightly on foreign policy but since they want to continue burning oil they will still need to handle the middle east with caution. This limits their moves. Things that I am concerned about 1) there are groups that have heard the dog whistles are coming out. Immigrants watakipatapata. Hate crimes will rise On abolishing the Electoral college - never will happen. tuwachane nayo. On the electoral college going rogue? won't happen. The last thing anyone wants and especially the left is civil war in the US... guess which side has the guns??? Watu watulie 4 years. Obstruct when you can. Revitilize your base. Test it in the midterm elections. What we witnessed on wednesday this week started in 2010 with the Tea Party Movement. The democrats should go to their roots and figure out where they lost their base and in 2018 test if they have broken through. Mambo ya clintons is done. Move on! All Mushrooms are edible! Some Mushroom are only edible ONCE!

The Source of our Rage: The Ruling Elite Is Protected from the Consequences of its Dominance
An interesting stat, the top .01% has seen its share of the household wealth triple from 7% to 22% in the past four decades, while the share of the nation's wealth owned by the bottom 90% has plummeted from 36% to 23%. This used to be the kind of stuff the Democrats used to fight for! The new deal - everything! it seems like during Obama's time wrestling this monster became to difficult. Wacha tuone Trump (not a conservative or republican) kama ataweza for his people. All Mushrooms are edible! Some Mushroom are only edible ONCE!

Yes, all this Electoral College talk is just a waste of time by those who cannot stomach democracy. It has worked fine for them all this time so now is when they want to change it? Because they didn't win now they change it? Anyway, about your concerns, I read about the Somali woman voted in. To say the truth human passions are almost uniform the world over. Imagine next year Onyango winning a seat in Othaya partly because Omondis and Otienos were there in plenty. Or Kariuki winning in Kabondo partly because Kamaus and Kamothos were there in enough numbers. It may not necessarily be a bad thing for conspicous immigrants to do their things in quiet like the descendants of the coolies have largely done here. Getting in the middle of raw of emotions - through politics as it primarily does - may have repucussions (negative and / or positive) of which the contestants might not have anticipated.
