I have been watching this counter for a while, particularly post Chevron deal. Counter is in deep sleep while kenol is very active. What are the prospects?

since they decided to pay a div of 1 bob as compared to previous pay of 2.5 bob i guess then people lost touch with it.

nothing is happening... infact as a shareholder you should count yourself lucky that the price has remained stable...

if the chevron assets are profitable and with rising oil prices i'm very sure half year results will send the share price higher..

I find Total annoyingly slow. At it's best it touches 31 then races back down to 30. I had bought it in 2005 at 50 and had to sell at a loss because it went on a downward trend, never to recover.

@richVee - You cant compare the stock performance to the firm's performance... not apples to apples comparison!

i abandoned this ship...left it for the pirates! since their acquisition of chevron assets seems to benefit the newly created outfit and not the kawaida shareholder.

but the stock performance is a fair indication of the status of the company, no?
Surely, a shareprice that is stuck at the same price endlessly.. to me it seems like a dormant company. I think (imho) that when a stock moves up and down significantly, it indicates there is life in that house...akin to where there is smoke there is fire...

If there is a company that knows how to treat its shareholders then its Total, a lot of goodies during AGM and I remember in 2007, total had this huge party at the Grand regency for the shareholders, they called it a cocktail but it had whole bulls roasting and plenty of booze, do they still hold the shareholders' cocktail?

As a share, the chevron assets will accrue benefits for the shareholders maybe in three years so let the sleeping dog lie.

I still think Shell closing shop while Caltex exit is still so fresh in people's minds could be adversely affecting perceptions on Total but I believe this counter has good days ahead. So for me this is the time to stock up on Total. Just got a couple last week.

BBI will solve it

The switch from the religiously paid dividend of 2.5 to 1 bob best exemplifies the caveat that 'past performance is not necessarily an indicator of future performance'.

@guru - Not too sure that 1+1 always equals 2. The very fact that the Americans pulled out of the market (coz of poor margins?)might mean that the added assets to Total might, in the short term, put a drain on Total's profitability
