Hapana, as I said above, circumcision is a ritual, a rite of passage, not some "walk in walk out" thing.

So what happens when a mjaruo wants his kid circumcised? What rite of passage does he use?

He can use the one proposed by @bigchick hapo juu in post #7.

I've heard about the new painless non-surgical method.
Which clinics use this method around Nairobi? Within 5km of CBD.

(Please; let's not get into a discussion of cultural and religious need of withstanding the pain. The decision to go painless is made.)

What is the Joy of being painless? The pain is what makes him be the man.Mwanaume ni kupambana na uchungu. You will make him a sissy.

if pain makes a man, then men should give birth!

If he think pain makes a man, let him try and insert the half*length of a walking stick into his own asshole.

You sound like you want to go it alone?

This is a community affair so I would suggest you go to any PCEA church or Catholic Church and join their programme. They have the doctors and the after care programme in a camp where they are taken through the transition. It fun and better if done with other boys.

Parklands Baptist also has the programme.

Yaani you take a 3 year old kid in a camp at some nondescript PCEA church for him to be taken though transition?

@come back jesus!

So your kijana at 13 is ready after the rite to become a man right? He should look for a job and a wife, right?

No @Lolest! step by step... He was a baby first, then he became a boy, then next a man, then later a husband/father... Let him become a man then act like one, then now other things can follow... Why do you want him to be a husband immediately?

Circumcision or any other painful process will not make a boy a man

Back then, you were introduced to premarital sex(through an additional rite called 'wiping of soot'), drugs, and general umang'aa!

So much for becoming a man!!

I didn't say pain makes one a man... You can argue that with those who propose that. I was responding to your assumption where you asked the question whether being a man means "He should look for a job and a wife"

Do you know a clinic that does painless circumcision located within 5km of CBD Nairobi?

That's the question.

You should be ashamed of yourself and even the clan should disown you. There is a reason why circumcision is a "rite of passage", and not something you sneak in and perform in some clinic in CBD. Circumcision is a ritual.

rites of passage definition:

Ceremonies that mark important transitional periods in a person's life, such as birth, puberty, marriage, having children, and death. Rites of passage usually involve ritual activities and teachings designed to strip individuals of their original roles and prepare them for new roles. In some societies, some of the most complex rites of passage occur at puberty, when boys and girls are initiated into the adult world. In some ceremonies, the initiates are removed from their village and undergo physical mutilation (circumcision) before returning as adults.

Note : Rites of passage generally affirm community solidarity.

Thanks @masukuma. Isn't it interesting that the bravest men, the most courageous who underwent a painful rite of passage in their teenage years, are also the most backward and primitive. They cannot even tame their harsh environments. Have been unable to subdue the earth as it were. But when they fight, and they always pick a weaker adversary, they are the most savage and sadistic. Think burning women and children in a church. Has happened in Rwanda and Kenya.

yeah... "brave" men!! some of these "brave" men just run into the practice less than 250 years ago and are not trumpeting their masculinity because of a voluntary injury. By the way - this is not to be misconstrued to mean that rites of passage are useless, they are very useful! but insisting that your rite is somehow superior to others and yet this superiority has no tangible fruit is not intelligent!
