While the state always invites Dedan Kimathi's widow to state functions, built for her a mansion, bought for her a brand new double cabin vehicle and unveiled a statue of her slain husband the state has completely ignored or forgotten real mau mau supremo Field Marshall Musa Mwariama!!
Though Forensic scholars of Kenyan historiography point to the open fact that Mwariama was more senior than Kimathi in the mau mau hierarchy, there has been a concerted effort by the state and ethnic compromised scholars to elevate Kimathi higher than Mwariama!! Mwariama was a second world war veteran but Kimathi was largely a civilian and didn't take part in this defining episode of the African nationalism course that was the second world war! There have been fraudulent claims from some quarters that Kimathi had fought in the second world war claims which are similar to those covertly advanced by colonial operatives that Kenyatta was in prison as a freedom fighter when all know he was put at kapenguria and later maralal as a way of protecting him from the real mau mau who wanted to punish him for his espionage and subversion of the freedom cause!!
Wether Kimathi or Mwariama was the ultimate mau mau supremo aside, it pains to see successive governments adopt an openly discriminative treatment of its heroes!!
Why is it that no one has ever seen it fit to visit Mwariama's widow( pictured below during the mashujaa celebrations in meru receiving a token of kshs 200,000 and her husbands portrait from Governor Munya)
But the most glaring discrimination is the omission of prominent first and second liberation luminaries from the list read out by the state at the machakos mashujaa celebrations!! Mwariama and General Baimungi, Jaramogi Odinga and Tom Mboya were curiously left out in the mention of first freedom heroes! But wait a minute! Isn't it expecting too much to even imagine of the state mentioning General Baimungi, a radicalised second world war hero and mau mau veteran who refused to agree with Kenyatta's new capitalist elitist land policy and threatened to mobelize mau mau afresh back to the forest and he actually went back to the forest after realizing that the freedom victory had been stolen by colonial sympathisers , turncoats and sons of colonial chiefs and home guards, was demonized by the Kenyatta government hunted down at the instructions of jomo Kenyatta and killed in kirinyaga and his bullet riddled body paraded in meru town streets in bid to cow other badly disappointed freedom fighters who were burning with raw desire to return to the forest to wage fresh war against Kenyatta and other turncoats masquerading as liberation heroes and were now grabbing the most prime land left by the departing colonialists!!
Can anyone hope to write a credible history of track champions and greats of the 21st century without mentioning Usain Bolt ? No! That would be an outright sham!! In the same vein you any list purporting to enumerate of first and second liberation heroes will be incomplete and an outright fraud if it omitted Jaramogi Odinga and his scion Comrade Raila Odinga!!
