Mungai Kihanya had a good suggestion : To reduce MPs while dealing with gender rule, scrap senate, have natl assembly be based on current counties. Each county votes 2 people: 1 man 1 woman. That deals with both problems at national level.

At county level, reduce the wards to the current constituency numbers. Eg Nairobi will have just 17wards. Vote as above

Such suggestions are impractical, its much easier to simply pay the MPs lower salaries in line with their responsibilities.

Ideally they should be earning less than govt doctors.

My only issue with MuKihanya's suggestion is that it disadvantages populous counties like Nairobi, Kiambu,Kakamega..

Each county will have an equal share of votes. Very undemocratic when crucial decisions are made by parliament

This can be mitigated by allocating votes per county. So Nairobi would have 17 votes while Lamu just 2

Then re-draw the County boundaries but ensure they do not exceed the current 47. We should reduce them to below 40.

I think giving more votes to the more populous counties is better

Shida ya having huge devolved units is that devpt will most likely not trickle down to almost every village as is the case with smaller units

Actually what needed to have happened is Sarah Serem commission should have refused their blackmail, then they blackmail us that they are nit going to pass any bills and then we recall them for not doing their work. Maneni kwisha ....... to tame their madness.

The issue of paying sitting allowances in committees should also stop for salaried public officers.

Juzi I overheard someone from Wesdan say how a politician's home huko must always have food. Lots of food. People just pop in to eat and leave

Whether mheshimiwa is there or in Nairobi or Britain.
