Actually this sort of thing has been going on for a long time, only that the shit has never hit the fan as it has done this time round. The local islamic community has always tried to enforce some sort of sharia law to the inhabitants of this province using crude means. At one time, they had given an ultimatum to non muslims to quit the area. On the material day, most civil servants, who were non muslims failed to report on duty out of fear. Services were grounded in most government departments. That is when they realised how much they relied on MATH MATHUU and the KAFIR for essential services.Laughing out loudly . But if you think it is only the muslim clergy behaving badly, then you have not tried out KIJABE MISSION HOSPITAL

At public cost? All taxpayers' expense?

@ Brewer, Let me explain to you the way I see it.

2 kenyan tax paying muslims, have a dispute over a domestic issue;
- scenario 1; they go to a kadhi court and the cost of resolution of Sh. 1,000 is borne by the govt.
- scenario 2; they go to the district magistrates court and the cost of resolution of Sh. 1,000 is borne by the govt.

Tell me where is the extra cost you are referring to?

@Obi, let me explain the extra cost - they have domestic issues
Scenario 1
They go to a kadhi's court (operated by SUPKEM or NAMLEF) or someone else the cost of resolution sh 1,000 borne by them.
Scenario 2.
they go to a kadhi's court operated by the government the cost of resolution sh 1,000 borne by govt.

the latter one - I PAY TOO!!! from my 0.33% PAYE and 0.16% VAT

please note: District magistrates court rules same laws for muslims and hindus. if they CHOOSE to go there - they loose the Religious context of their argument as DO HINDUS or CHRISTIANS or MUNGIKI - and thus we are all the same before the law!

Masukuma, you should know that the Kenyan Constitution(both present and proposed) is founded on Judaeo-Christian philosophies and principles.

Is this not unfair to minority religions in Kenya?

@youcantstopusnow,
Which Christian philosophies? Jesus Christ who we follow preached Forgive 7 * 70 times, to turn the other cheek, to love your neighbors, To love God with all your heart with all your mind with all your spirit. Where are these enshrined in the Laws of Kenya? Christian Philosophies as you call them have nothing to do with earthly things.
