obiero interesting stuff.. which metal were you made..i wish I was made with such metal . you are a MAN standing tall no matter the Nature of the waves in the Sea.. I guess even Chris is Holding things so tight with the head hidden in the dust!!

@arapcharles this time I shall have my cake and eat it too.. most of the asset sales were not captured in last year's results, including the 2 last plane offloads as well as the landing slot. In the same H1, 5 acres of the KQ Embakasi land was sold to KEMSA and payment received. Multiple MICE occurrence as well as new routing of the slimmed down fleet count have boosted revenue and resultant profit. Net finance costs will also take a tumble in H2 via the banking ammendment act. The very last of Mbugua's oil hedges sunk on the 20th of this month. Expect a bottomline profit in H2. Take off is confirmed

Ahhh! Thanks for that info. So no point in buying just yet.
All those one-off asset sales and even then a loss for 1H 2016-17?

Commonsense dictates that upon release of the vastly improved H1, the share will rise by some margin.. Even when dating, hope plays a major role. Faith in the unseen. The time is now

Time is money, so money is time. Money saved is time gained in reverse! Money stores your life’s energy. You expend your energy, get paid money, and store that money for a future purchase made in a currency.

All these stories. All talk, no action.

KK made Kenya's largest loss by a (listed) firm of KES 6bn. Then it was smashed by KQ year after year.

Ohana came in, didn't give shareholders stories but started working to reduce expenses. Within 18 months, KK was profitable.

There was no bailout by GoK. No government support. No big stories. No freebies to PR folk. No "GoK guaranteed debt at reduced pay out". No "Cleaned-up board and management" after 4 years.

Turns out... KQ can't even run a much smaller airline - Precision Air - without making huge losses despite having only 10 planes since 2013. d'oh! d'oh! d'oh!

Revenue = TZS 90.75bn
Loss After Tax = 91.68bn

I kid you not. The idiots lost more than the REVENUE they took in.

"The Group incurred a net loss of TZS 92 billion for the year ended 31 March 2016 (31 March 2015: loss of TZS 84 billion) and as at that date, the Group’s current liabilities exceeded its current assets by TZS 232 billion (31 March 2015: TZS 139 billion). The Group was also in a shareholders’ deficit position of TZS 206 billion as at that date (31 March 2015: TZS 114 billion).
Furthermore, the Company incurred a net loss of TZS 91 billion for the year ended 31 March 2016 (31 March 2015: loss of TZS 83 billion) and as at that date, the Company’s current liabilities exceeded its current assets by TZS 228 billion (31 March 2015: TZS 136 billion). The Company was also in a shareholders’ deficit position of TZS 204 billion as at that date (31 March 2015: TZS 113 billion).
The Group continues to face working capital challenges to support its working capital requirements and to honour, in time, repayment of maturing loan obligations. The Group also has delayed remittance of statutory deductions and taxes to relevant authorities. These conditions give rise to uncertainty that may cast doubt about the Group’s ability to continue as a going concern and, therefore, the Group may be unable to realise its assets and discharge its liabilities in the normal course of business."

They are not in control of Precision at all yet they have a controlling stake. Naikuni still sit in the board of Precision. The propellers being used by Precision are very efficient and can be used to plug some gaps but there is nothing go on. It is just a TZ domestic carrier being used as a feeder airline by Qatar Airways.

KQ is 'flying dead'. There is nothing tangible in Obiero's list. I hope this AGM is used to sack the board and the entire executive management.

I hope @VVS [& other genuine taxpayers] aren't saddled with the debts KQ owes. Lakini, this is Kenya...

Qatar has already placed an offer.. The tragedy is to look at this in tunnel vision.. Open up the vista. KQ is a gem to Africa and the world at large. Let us see how things pan out on Thursday
