Currently Man-U and Liverpool are tied when it comes to the number of premier league titles won - 18 a piece. Never mind the Liverpool ones are the from the old league - a discussion for another day. Liverpool have nothing to play for. Their chance of finishing fourth is between zero and nothing at best. If Man-U win the league, they break Liverpool's record. If Liverpool beat or even draw with Chelsea, they hand control back to Man-U and most probably the title!!!

There is a school of thought that Liverpool will deliberately loose the game to prevent this from happening - they are used to loosing anyway. Sounds very plausible to me? Your thoughts?

Sad{|= I would do the same if I was them. But not to worry, Chelsea has beaten all the big 4 in all matches this season. 5 out of 5. Home and away.

spurs are currently fourth - and they beat chelsea just the other day.

sunderland (sp?) may just shock some manu fans still as they speculate on liverpool throwing matches.

Am manu, still hopeful but things got complicated when they beat us last encounter. Chelsea too strong for the fools and without Torres, where will the goals come from? Given the anfield atmosphere a draw might happen.
Life is short. Live passionately.

Its interesting how most Man U fans are so focused on the Liverpool-Chelsea game while forgetting that Sunderland might as we decide who goes with the title over the weekend, they are no walk-over.

In theory Chelsea should win because - (a)Liverpool will be tired after playing against Athletico tonight 29/4/2010,(b) Torres will be MIA (c) Chelsea have a perfect record against the top dogs this season (d) Benitez is being openly courted by juventus and wouldnt want to be the Manager that handed Man-u a twentieth title and bragging rights. On the flipside, Babel, Ngog, Benayoun or Kuyt could spring a surprise to boost Liverpools outside chance of a fourth place.

If I were Benitez, I would throw the match away. Being fourth and making ManU all time greats vs being 6th or 7th and retaining joint great status which is better?

I'm with everyone who is saying Man Utd should focus on the Sunderland game...they're no walkover and I'm sure they have a target for the no. of points they want to reach at the end of the season...I'll keep my fingers crossed that lady luck smiles on us..

After yesterday's Liverpool game, Benitez is causing a row about the fixtures. Extract from sportinglife.com:

"I think the fixtures are fantastic, very well organised as always," said a sarcastic Benitez..."What time do we play on Sunday, 1.30pm? What time do United play, four o'clock. Ah, so they play later..."We will try to do our best and see how many players we have and how many of them have fresh legs..."I understand the fans (not wanting United to win their 19th title) but we will try to win."

Seems he is setting up his excuses in case they lose the game! Or may be playing with chelsea players pschology to expect an easy game only to find a very difficult game altogether!

Congratulations to Chelsea on winning the 2010 EPL - anyone expecting a draw or loss to Wigan is in utopia. We'll be back next season, this one was disappointing by Man Utd's standards...a saucer it is!

Focus now on the CL final and the World Cup. Aluta Continua!

My fears have been confirmed. Now I believe M-Pesa is fully operational in UK. Liverfools clearly "sold" the game. Gerald's pass to Drogba was fantastic - if only they were in the same team! And some guys dare call it a mistake! What mistake? A player of Gerald's abilities and experience making such a "mistake" under absolutely no pressure!? Never ever! How I wish Wigan will force atleast a draw and expose the fools for who they are. Unlikely but possible! And if that happens Man - U would win one of the most memorable league trophy ever - 4th consecutive title, record breaking 19th league title - all these happening on the last day of the season. Just a dream...

You shoukd have the loud cheers from Liverpool fans when Chelsea scored the second goal. There were 55,0000 chelsea supporters at Anfield yesterday. My friend a ManU fan could not stomach this anymore. He had to walkway. Looks like we predicted it right h

I agree with you smano. It's a very long shot to expect Chelsea to slip up when they can smell the cup and are playing infront of their fans. It would take for ever to recover. I'm realistic. They are in the driving seat. But the pressure is on them. Everyone expects them to win. They are playing a "weaker" side at home and they are a point ahead. But this is football. Wigan might want to prove a point. People would talk about them and the game for years if they pulled a suprise. I'll definitely watch the last game on sunday and hope against hope that it goes Man - U's way.
