I would like to introduce you to Spotlight - a business listing and reviews platform

We all have been situations where you needed to know how well a service provider provided his/her service. Be it a plumber, a mason, a mover, an event planner, an electrician, a caterer, a cab guy e.t.c. People talk a good game but unprofessionalism is rife in our setting. How sure are you that this mason you are getting will not steal your cement? For now we have to do with word of mouth - you ask a guy... who knows a guy! Of course when you ask the service provider under scrutiny, they will refer you to their good clients - people who they are in good books (in/for).

So this is basically an app for that - where you can
1) review service providers who have provided services to you
2) you can get to know how professional people who you contact are... (by looking them up or by doing a truecaller callerID when you call them or SMS)
3) you can request reviews if the service provider in question is not listed or has few/unsatisfactory ratings and then people who know them can rate them.

Credibility of reviews in important and so what we show you the distance between you and the person who made the review... kinda like in real life. You trust the objectivity of referrals made by people who you know... that is why we all (most of us) get mboches from our mums 😉.

To give you more value - we have a business listing function (think yellow pages) prepopulated with 44k businesses of all sizes.

So in short the app is
1) a business listing app
2) that enables you to review businesses/service providers
3) that enables you to request reviews of people/businesses in question.

you could, or probably you have, put a mechanism to put in a price guide.
other than uncertainty about quality, people are unsure about prices especially when purchasing a product for the first time.

The idea is not bad but wtf are all the permissions for?????????? Shame on you

FYI, I use xprivacy installed under xposed installer and the demands being made by this app!

I'm not saying the demands are malicious but just giving you a heads-up, OK?

Noted: Some of the permissions are required to verify your number when you sign up (truecaller/whatsapp style) that means a call or an SMS sent to your phone. if you had lollipop and above it would request you to authorize these accesses - if and when required. in earlier versions of android there is no real way of doing this except a dialog all over (which will come but saa hii tuko job ya functional requirements). but take it from me - your data is being treated responsibly smile .
the reason we get your number is so that we can show you your relationship with a reviewer. In the case a you need search for a mechanic you can see who it was that reviewed them (people you know listed first and their reviews carry more weight)... you for example you would know if you should take the reviews of a person who is not known by any of your friends or not. Or take the reviews of your male friend over that of a female friend over on a good mechanic or so. this also prevents people from putting fake reviews using fake numbers that no one knows. but it's still work in progress.
