The perks of winning the Olympic Marathon is that everyone get's to listen to your marathon. And apparently our anthem 'Rocks'

Let's make it a tradition! Let's entertain them every four years.

It's a million times easier to question God than question the national anthem.

Because men's marathon medals are awarded at the closing ceremony (So it was played courtesy of Kipchoge).

Live Updates ran as

9:25 p.m.: Medal ceremony for marathon top three. Way cool....
9:35 p.m.: a ceremony recognizing the Games' volunteers....
9:45 p.m.: flag handover ceremony from Rio de Janeiro to Tokyo....

It wasn't played during the closing ceremony. It was played after Kenya won the marathon. It didn't have anything to do with closing ceremony.

Quote "Often, the men's marathon medals are awarded at the closing ceremony; this occurred in 2004, 2012 and 2016, among other times."

It was played because Kenya had won a gold medal in the marathon. It's not like it had been lined up to be played during the closing ceremony. If another country had won, then it is their anthem that would have been played. That said, I do understand your need to feel special, and on top of the world.
