Not sure if these are enemies of development; some need for urgent consultations before the 7 days deadline.

My friends old man (in his 80s) was involved in a car accident and he happened to be taken to Machakos level 5 hosp. There he was treated well and discharged. However, his arm kept getting swollen and he sort a second opinion in Nrb. The docs in the city discovered a fracture that was missed and well...he got treated for it incurred a second bill for that.

Can we say that the docs at the level 5 hosp were lazy to conduct enough tests so as to establish if there were fractures or not?

The family ended up getting a physiotherapist privately who worked at the hospital and when he was asked why he was charging too much for 2 hour sessions of kienyeji therapy, he said that these days you cannot even walk out of the hospital with gloves or gauze..Mutua has people who are checking how the supplies are being used, that its terrible..bla bla.. so my question is should employment be permanent? Are the company supplies such as gloves, gauze, syringes meds etc etc, supposed to be "benefits" for employees? In another thread I told you guys that the biggest thieves in Kenyan hospitals are the docs who shout loudest about the lack of supplies in hospitals.

Anyway, I hope one day, the public sector will be restructured in such a way that a majority govt employees will be on contract. Why have a permanent surgeon yet surgeries are done once in a while? They can come to work on consultation and be paid per job done. Otherwise, Kenyans will remain captive.

All in all, the doctors at Machakos hospitals can all resign and seek employment elsewhere since their employer is "hostile". The appearance of Alfie seems to "have caused disappearance and ill health" to some of them. The union represents the docs, the govt represents the people. There is no way Alfie would call that medic lazy with no complaints from the residents. His job is to serve the people who elected him and no one should blackmail him to apologize for lethargy. Did we not see a video clip posted by someone proving the same thing?

The employment "at will" clause needs to be introduced in all employment contracts in Kenya esp govt. No job should be permanent. At-will means that an employer can terminate an employee at any time for any reason, except an illegal one, or for no reason without incurring legal liability. Likewise, an employee is free to leave a job at any time for any or no reason with no adverse legal consequences.
