1. Apparently Kenya has a contingent of about 80 sportsmen and 50 officials. Why the heck do we have 50 officials?

2. One of the officials Michael Rotich, was filmed by undercover reporters allegedly asking for £10,000 in return for advice on how to avoid being caught by drug testing authorities.

This has further damaged Kenya's reputation. Expect questions about doping to swirl everytime Kenya wins a medal. And expect Kenya to be accused of systemic doping and possibly banned

3. Sprinter Carvin Nkanata who broke the Kenya 200m record and who was on TV recently saying how he had been working hard for the Olympics since January was disqualified due to a blunder by Kenyan team officials.

The sprinters profile had ‘null’ against it in the Rio 2016 Olympics competitor’s database effectively meaning he had not been cleared for competition as it emerged regulations governing entry of athletes with dual nationality were not followed.

The officials have been too busy planning their bribing, joyrider and scoring schemes to pay attention to key details.

Nkanata will now miss the Olympics

4. Julius Yego’s ticket went missing under unclear circumstances, causing the fracas at the Airport. Same issue happened to Elijah Manangoi who won silver medal at last year's world championships

5. Julius's Yego's coach was left behind and was told he will arrive only a day before Yego's first throw. And he will only have one day to spend with yego before leaving. So while other competitors have 7 days with their coaches to plan startegies, Yego will have one day with his coach.

5b. The sprinters coach John Anzrah also faced the same fate. This means if Kenya has a relay team, he will have to coordinate strategy via Skype and he will not be available to give sprinters tips and advice as they run through the rounds.

Note: Stephen arap Soi who was the Chef de mission of the disastrous 2012 campaign is still the Chef de mission. Remember that in 2012, many athletes complained bitterly about his incompetence. Vivian Cheruioyot said she performed poorly because she was not allowed sufficient time with her coach

Imagine training for months only to be told you can't participate because the officials did not process your paperwork?

Some runners even spend their own money to travel and qualify.

These joyrider officials don't even care.

smile You may want to say. Those are young Brazilian kids learning what their elder brothers practice in the Favelas but even then, Rio isn't as bad unless you go to Vidigal, Cidade de Deus or Rocinha. Happened to spend a stint in Belo Horizonte and violent crime there and other towns such as Fortaleza,Natal,Sao Luis or Cuiaba, makes the Favelas of Rio look like saints neighbourhoods.
Nothing great was ever achieved without enthusiasm.

Ethiopians are furious with one of their swimmers. They say the only reason he went to Rio is because his father is the chairman of the Ethiopia swimming association. The chap has been nicknamed Robel the whale because of his wide girth. He came in dead last in the qualifying heat of 100m freestyle. He was 25 metres behind the closest runner.

This video is not current....If I'm not wrong it was recorded somewhere in 2015 over a long period of time and not 2016.

More on NOCK Corruption

Quote:
Kenyan athletics administration (N.O.C.K and AK) in this games are in total shambles. Just a few days ago we had Javelin World champion Julius Yego complaining his coach would be allowed in Rio for only one day(start of his competition) and would be made to fly back to Kenya the following day, leaving Yego without a coach for the entirety of the games.

On Sunday, when Yego and other athletes got to the airport(Kenyan) to fly to Rio, Yego and Elijah Manangoi's plane tickets were missing! All other athletes threatened not to board the plane unless Yego and Manangoi was flying with them. After several meetings and phone calls, Yego and Manangoi were allowed to board the plane without the tickets.

Meanwhile USA-based Kenyan sprinter Calvin Nkanata was stuck in a hotel in Rio unable to access athletes' village due to accreditation problems. He was later ruled ineligible which I find questionable since former Kenyan marathoner Catherine "The Great" Ndereva who is part of Kenyan Olympic Committee (Federation) claimed she sent Nkanata's accreditation to USA as per his request.

This whole fiasco come down to one thing: Money. Money as in creed for money(by NOCK officials). Olympics is the most lucrative outing per the Kenyan sports administrators. They therefore want to maximize on how much they pocket. They do this by cutting down the number of teams and athletes and coaches going to the games.

That is what happened to the fate of Nkanata, Kenyan 4 x 400m relay team which already qualified last year with a sub 3:01 at the Africanchampionships which they won, Kenyan high jumper Mathew Sawe etc. Those coaches and officials who try to squeeze in to the trip end up paying for their own upkeep(I believe Yego's coach who ended up being allowed to accompany Yego after the complain will fall in this category).

That is where likely John Anzrah comes in. Kipchoge Keino(president of NOCK) mentioned that Anzrah wasn't part of Nock delegation. That he knows nothing about his being in Rio.

Wario Under fire

- More than 250 joyriders have travelled to Rio at tax payer expense
- Sports kits for athletes have been stolen, allowances have not been paid
- Chef De mission Stephen arap Soi, is running Team Kenya as a , personal fiefdom, presiding over the selection of athletes, and their travel arrangements, accreditation and stay in the Olympics Village

- The same debacle happened in 2012 when Soi was in charged. Chances are that he will still be in charge in 2020.

- Nike kits given to team have been stolen and sold on the black market
