well done. that's paves way for @spikes target of 2bob to materialise. hoping u won't play ppt on this one. @maka, gives us more tidings of the forthcoming bombshell. will it be tears of joy or tears of blood. I can smell blood a mile away and blood it is.

THIS KSH. 2.00 IS NOT LIKELY MY FRIENDS.. my thoughts the losses have been absorbed or what??? kwangu Ni 3.50cts nibuy Kama mwenda..

You are forgetting the fact that even kes 3.50/-was thought impossible by @obiero group! It has now come to pass. I reviewed my entry strategy to 50cents and still patient. KES 2bob as things stand is too expensive!!! You are lied to by men in black suits and red ties, while releasing results, whose credentials are questionable. MIBs plus red ties disguised as executives representing shareholders shouting from the rooftops about POSITIVE OPERATING PROFIT to entice their employer who happens to be the government of Kenya from sacking them. They kept mute on NEGATIVE EQUITY and ballooning NET LOSS.

Hii ni ya kula na macho for now till a heavy plunge to 50CENTS.

@Obiero which is your new strategy? Tell us your objective of low entry. Or you want to jump in now at kes 4/-

@Spikes KQ has never traded below KES 3.80 feel free to fact check .. Anywho, tomorrow is settlement day.. I was aiming for KES 3.85 but may need to go in at KES 3.95 or slightly above.. As I have said here severally, KQ should not trade below KES 8.00 and KES 14 is its current fair value according to long term shareholders hence minimal volume spike since FY results release. This share is packed with immeasurable value for those who can wait just a little longer

Finance 101, a company with Negative Equity is worth nothing to the Equity holders. In fact it is a liability to shareholders who have unpaid shares.

The only sane thing to do with KQ is to lend to the company and make sure the loan is secured. Lenders will make 20% while ignorant shareholders wait for the company to reverse -Ve 60B capital in the next 30 years.

If this stock can rally on expectation of reduced loss, what will happen when we turn a profit.. Fundies are for the weak hearted. We work with inside information. Granted, government firms are not easy to deal in, but we must remember that KQ once traded at KES 126 and based on volume analysis majority of those who witnessed that price are yet to sell. This is a fact

Yes they havent sold actually know quite a sizeable number of them...but is that a proper investment? How many years down the line?Talk of trials and tribulations...Shida tupu.
Acha kesho ifike they announce another massive loss then life moves on...

@maka signs of life are now very pronounced at KQ..I have gone through the full year results line by line and I hold no reservation on Operation Pride progress. It is bearing real fruit, USD 9.5m per month to be precise

@sparkly many airlines trade on negative equity including Air France. KQ as at today has over KES 3.5B in cash at hand. The firm paid over KES 7.1B in loans over the same financial year implying reduced interest expense in current year as the firm is no longer taking up new debt. Juxtaposed onto savings of USD 9.5m per month. Time will tell

Your point being?

My point being that the negative equity cannot stop the airline from operating. All the liability cannot be called up at once, so it's inconsequential. Each significant shareholder expected the negative equity to increase since major assets were on sale recently. CS Finance has hinted to a capital restructure whose details I have shared here.. Rotich rarely utters meaningless statements, so you can count on action in the next few weeks.. Liquidity is king for airlines and KQ has achieved it

Surprising many is not news coz shares rise and fall. The big news is when?

It's true it will surprise many but not now . It has to reach the bottom of the sea first and might stay there for a while before it can rise up. Problem is we don't know how long it will stay at the sea bottom .maybe 5 yrs, maybe 10 yrs or even rust off while at the bottom of the sea beyond salvage.

@Obiero - On Wednesday, you stated that come what may, you cannot accept anything below 12/= on your KQ shares. Next morning you are selling at 4.50/=

You really need to reevaluate your source of "inside information".

Better use that 700K to buy some kwota acre in Kamulu and hold for 3 years and sell at tripple the aomunt...KQ will still be sub 2 bob in 3 years plus naught dividend in the period.

Lets not heighten expectations on this stock.

Quote:
Mr James Kanyua, a Nairobi-based financial consultant and financial markets analyst, said while KQ may have shown small signs that things might improve in the future, it remains a stock investors shouldn’t speculate on currently before the turnaround has been effected.

Quote:
These sentiments are echoed by a market report by Cytonn Investments. “It is not clear that the long-term, deep-seated strategic, financial and managerial challenges that culminated into the current financial dire straits facing KQ have been dealt with or are being dealt with appropriately,” says the report.

Additionally, Mr Satchu notes that KQ should remove all its fuel hedges. “The airlines job is to run an airline and not to trade oil which they have been doing quite poorly,” he says, noting that the national carrier has no room to make mistakes anymore.

Effects of fleet reduction.

Quote:
The KQ Cargo – initially touted as the airline’s next growth area – has also suffered after KQ cut its fleet of planes from 43 to 36. With the seven larger aircraft removed, the executives say the remaining ones are comparatively narrow, something that has led to low cargo uptake.

“The reason (for low volumes) is that cargo is delivered in big bags and we now have smaller aircraft,” says Mr Murianki.
