I have a strong feeling these 1 billion un issued shares are responsible for the price decline in combination with rights. That will be some major dilution by the time they are all issued

approximately, what do u think will be the rights ratio, 1:3 or 1:4 or 1:5?

someone explain this to me(no matusis pleasesmile )....if you will have 4.5billion issued shares why would you want to raise only 10billion in the rights issue?? That will mean you will price the rights at just 2bob....what am I not seeing here??

Not answering your question, but came across an interesting book that starts thus:

"Some in clandestine companies combine, erect new stocks to trade beyond the line, with air and empty names beguile the town and raise new credits first, then cry ‘em down, divide the empty nothing into shares, and set the crowd together by the ears." Daniel Defoe, ~1720

Agreed. It will be interesting to see how many actually took shares as opposed to cash.

@Pesa Nane. Thanks. So the total number of new shares issued represents 1.35% of the existing issued shares and 1.33% of the issued Shares as enlarged by the issue of the new shares.

KBC is seeking to raise 10 billion shillings by selling 1 billion additional shares.

1 billion new shares represents 28.5% of the current shares. This means that 1 new share will be issued for every 3 old shares held. Given that the current price to book ration stands at 1.2, the rights should not be priced bellow 24.50/=
I expect the value to go down by 25%, i.e 3/4 of the current price of 32.5.

Rights issue my predictions is 2 : 15 at a price of sh.25 per share.
That equates to 400mn shares being issued
