It seems this Macharia is a decent guy. He proves to me that he indeed built NIC. Can he replicate the same with Kenya Airways and save us the blunders?

Problem with making such a move at KQ is the KLM factor/shareholding.
If it was fully owned by gava then it would have been possible.

He has the experience and that's it. Do not look at it from any other angle.

The best among all the other applicants. Merit applied here.

He is fit for the job. Could have also done well as COO for KQ if only Ngunze and his KLM friends were straight forward.

@ArrestedDev - A discussion with a (paid) fanatic will yield little. It's like the Moi days. No matter how bad it got, the (paid) cheerleaders would praise the chap.

This is the second tranche of a Sh20.2 billion debt taken by the Treasury on behalf of the company. The government owns 29 per cent of the airline. Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly Laughing out loudly

Final figures ;110 management side gone + 99 unionisable;next phase coming soon; They managed this thing pretty well, took guys to Future planning classes actually all staff HAD to attend, the union negotiated that laid off staff have their medical cover run for the rest of the year + they were exempted from some tax ( will confirm this );then when you were called to get your letter you cleared with all departments to avoid guys who have been laid off coming back to the airport to clear.

That is a good start and kudos to Ngunze for masterful Execution. Starting with management was a classic act in right sizing.. If my manager was let go then who am I to challenge.. Further there are those who jumped ship prior.. Attrition shall meet the objectives
