The workers union representing a majority of Kenya Airways employees has said it does not anticipate further retrenchments at the national carrier following Friday’s sacking of 80 staff. The Kenya Aviation Workers Union, whose membership comprises about 2,500 KQ staffers, says the airline’s management has agreed to limit the number of sacked employees significantly below the initial estimate of 600. they are re trenching using a loan so i think they cant afford to pay the sendoff to the number they want Yeah, that's the issue at hand. The management needs to weigh all options very well as it will be expensive in the long run even if the loan is guaranteed by the treasury. They should consider the fact that the Company is already indebted. Debt shall be reduced monthly but staff costs always rise, daily.. They use assets daily. Let us bite the one off costs They will still need to hire in the near future when the business environment improves. It is evident the tourism industry is picking up. The retrenchment in 2012 led to new hires. The initial investment going to this exercise is very high and recouping it will take a while even if the manpower costs now are reduced. The interest element/ finance cost is the killer. It adds a burden to the existing finance costs. Please recheck your information. The previous right sizing was reversed by our courts Nope. Staff were not reinstated. Non-Kenyans were hired especially cabin crew. Let @maka or anyone with insider information to confirm. I would have taken time to direct the annual report to you but seems you would rather depend on hearsay KQ won this case and no one was reinstated. Which hearsay are you still referring to? The last annual report points out that KQ continues to manage manpower costs by outsourcing non-core activities. Extract from the annual report, CEO's report under Human Capital reads as below; pg. 41 HUMAN CAPITAL Quote: As at 31st March 2015, Kenya Airways’ Group headcount stood at 3,973, with an additional 29 in Jambojet and 626 outsourced staff primarily in Flight Operations and Ground Services. This represents no increase in headcount in permanent staff numbers over the last two years. In a bid to control escalating employee costs, the Company continues to scrutinize any additional headcount requirements, and reorganise any existing roles in order to avoid increase in headcount. Vacancies have by and large been filled internally and through re-organisation. The use of outsourced labour was also continued.

The below article was done during the senate hearing on KQ and all the facts were laid down and Acting Labour CS taken to task. https://asokoinsight.com...447-kenya-airways-staff
Surely how can we quote Senate as an authority. They were working on rumour. KQ management have never responded No one reinstated. The 512 were already hired through Career directions. The follow up of your article from 2012 is as below dated 15 Jan 2013. http://www.nation.co.ke/.../-/11bdg52/-/index.html
The fate of the 447 staff was sealed as per the below article dated 11 July 2014. Quote:“The court being unanimous, this appeal is allowed, the order of reinstatement with back pay is hereby set aside,” ruled the judges. http://www.businessdaily...-/112rqgcz/-/index.html
Please give us the report for 2014 That's the 2014/2015 report. The 2013/2014 report on human capital is as below; pg. 40 HUMAN CAPITAL Quote:As at 31st March 2014, Kenya Airways’ headcount stood at 4,003, with an additional 517 outsourced staff, primarily in Flight Operations and Ground Services departments. This represents no increase in headcount in permanent staff numbers over prior year. In a bid to control escalating employee costs, the Company has undertaken to closely scrutinize any additional headcount requirements, and reorganize any existing roles in order to avoid increases in headcount. A move to use more outsourced labour was undertaken.
So from the excerpts of two reports shared, do you still believe that the staff were released COOP 255,000 ABP 15.85; KQ 544,100 ABP 7.15; MTN 23,800 ABP 5.20

A move to use outsourced labour was also implemented.

The guy alipita kati kati. If u look at the other contestants 3 were from TNA and 2 URP.To avoid the ujinga one side was favoured compared to the other pick a neutral candidate. "Among the six names on the list include Joseph Kimote, James Kibati, Muriithi Ndegwa, Kirua Kipkomei and Yatich Kangugo who has been serving as the acting Managing Director of the Authority. James Kibati and Muriithi Ndegwa were among the top three contenders". Wealth is built through a relatively simple equation Wealth=Income + Investments - Lifestyle
