The Judiciary is yet to receive applications for the post of the Chief Justice and two other vacant positions at the Supreme Court.

By Monday, Chief Registrar of Judiciary Anne Amadi said that they were yet to receive bids from prospective candidates.

“Not yet, we are waiting,” Amadi told the Star.

The deadline for the CJ's position is Friday, July 8, while that of the Deputy CJ and Supreme Court judge are due on Wednesday, July 6.

Nobody wants to be cj when babu is running for president. Even Mutunga had to leave early so as not to deal with that perennial loser.

CJ was wrong.

Viable candidate Hon Justice Aggrey Muchelule

Without CJ's intervention those old gazers would still be in SC. smile

They have room to appeal. The CJ was unprofessional giving them fodder to use against the court.

cj was not wrong. the highest court in the land (the supreme court) held that the cj was right to vary the hearing date and also found that the court as constituted was too conflicted to deal with the matter. and that is the binding legal position on the matter.

and how is their having room to appeal (to a non-conflicted bench if there ever is such) a vindication of your point?

the truth is njoki's actions were ill-advised and reckless. good thing the cj nipped it in the bud before it could fester and bring down the supreme court.

Applicants are also required to submit five samples of any professional writings, including but not limited to judgments, advocacy submissions in courts, scholarly writings or any legal publications that they have authored.

I don't recall Dr. Willy having been a judge anywhere before he joined the SC.

Vacancy is announced, people refuse to apply but when names of those who applied are shortlisted you will hear things like regional balance, oh only people from certain areas are being considered etc. Watu wapeleke makaratasi. Justice Isaac Lenaola should have remained as the presiding judge of the Constitution and Human Rights Division of the High Court where i think he is doing a superb job. Wish him well as SCJ
