I find that opinion piece a tad bit patronising, that the UK can leave Euro which is an economic bloc and concentrate on the commonwealth another trade bloc in which it sits on the high table and sets the agenda from which it can benefit much more immensely as compared to the other member countries. Anyway wacha tujionee

You know the frame of mind that voted to exit Europe is not the same frame of mind that created the commonwealth. It was a liberal mindset that conceived and created the commonwealth. The mindset that has voted "leave" is an isolationist mindset and thus automatically assuming that since Europe is gone we will have the commonwealth picking up the pieces is misguided.

It is migrants who have made the UK to leave the EU. Migrants from eastern Europe.

This was carried in the Onion the other day. It is sad to see farce turn into tragedy right in front of our, largely helpless, eyes.

British voters will decide Thursday whether the U.K. should remain a member of the European Union. Here are the leading arguments for and against the U.K. leaving the E.U.:

FOR

- First step in returning Britain to its pre-1970s glory as an economically languishing failed colonial empire
- In the face of a resurgent Russia and increased threats from ISIS, leaving E.U. would be the best strategy for letting someone else deal with that shit
- Britons could once again refocus their hatred on internal class divisions
- One less goddamn flag everyone has to hang up
- Won’t have to take part in awkward process of denying Bosnia and Herzegovina’s E.U. membership request
- Throughout its history, Britain has always been a valiant defender of the right of smaller territories to separate from larger, oppressive governments
- Pretty airtight way for citizens to mask racism as concern for national autonomy

AGAINST

- Could lead to a chain reaction in which other member states consider leaving and then realize their economy would collapse if they did so
- Abandonment of E.U. would significantly delay transition to single totalitarian world government
- Could possibly make things awkward when bumping into Denmark or Malta at United Nations summits
- The windswept Swiss Alps! The stunning Sagrada Familia! The radiant vineyards of Tuscany!
- Never a good idea to find yourself on Luxembourg’s bad side
- Free trade agreements keep price of imported wiener würstchen low
- Fewer people for David Cameron to order around

And there, children, is a perfect summary of what is wrong with our World today. The visionary post World war 1 and 2 leadership that conceived the global architecture - from UN, EU, World Bank, WTO etc - that has served as so well is everywhere on the retreat if not gone.

What he have now as leaders are opportunist dimwits who can't see beyond the next election, leave alone the next generation. It might take another World war, or similar catastrophe, to shake us out of our short mindedness.

Got a briefing this morning from one of the cabinet member. Here is the highlights:

1. No one knows the extend of the implication
2. The vote is not binding and it's up to the parliament to proceed with legislation that will result in pullout by principle and by law
3. If the parliament do not do anything in 3 year, UK will automatically exit in principle but the laws will not change meaning that the laws that were in place before the exit will remain in place.

The briefing was meant to reassure the markets( before north American markets open)
