"rivers of blood" my tiny black a$$! once you make your bed - you must lie on it. in the words of Trevor Noah

Like it's weird when people say 'all these bloody foreigners coming into the UK, all these bloody foreigners..' well it's because YOU TOLD them about the UK! You've gotta understand, in the world we did not care for this place at all, no one knew about Great Britain. In India they were having a good time, the British went and told the Indians about Great Britain - they were having fun with elephants and spices, they had no need to come to this country...

It's interesting that in the 1950s and 60s we were fighting for freedom from the British Empire so that we could take charge of our internal affairs and borders, and 50/60yrs later in 2016 Britain is "fighting" the same battle to take back control of its internal affairs and borders from the EU. Only a mad briton would vote to continue living in (EU) bondage.

In my view, Britain will be better out of the EU. For the British, this free movement within the EU has really strained their country when it comes to jobs, housing, healthcare, education etc, coz many within the new and less prosperous EU countries eg Romania, Poland, Bulgaria, want to head to greener pastures in the UK. And with Turkey, and funny eastern Europe countries like Macedonia planning to join the EU, the situation will only get worse. Not to mention they have had to prop weak economies like Greece via the EU.

When it comes to trade, Britain can still sign trade agreements with EU countries. Also Britain is bound to trade more with her former colonies i.e the commonwealth countries and here countries like Kenya will gain immensely.

For defense/security purposes, they are members of NATO, which is not synonymous to the EU, and will still have to cooperate with the EU countries via NATO.

When it comes to power and influence on the world stage, they are bound to have more clout unlike now when their say is diluted within the EU.

Kenya is bound to gain greatly with Brexit. Britain has traditionally been Kenya's biggest and most important trading partner and exports destination. It's also largest source of tourists. Kenyan farmers used to trade with Britain without issues until the EU came up with crazy regulations which has made it very tough particularly for Kenyan small scale horticultural exporters. We can say that our trading was going on well until the EU came in between us and our most important trading partner. We can still trade with the EU with their tough regulations and maybe sign new more friendly trade agreements with Britain. A big advantage for us is that we will be able to talk directly to Britain regarding trade without going through the EU.

Kenyans will remember that not so long ago Kenyan nurses, doctors and other professionals could easily get work in Britain and move over there before EU regulations were changed and said that member countries had to recruit from the EU member countries. Britain will also now be able to recruit top talent from the whole world since it wont be bound by those crazy EU regulations.

Also Britain's influence in the world has been fading since the days of "the empire where the sun never sets" upto now when it has been swallowed by the EU, and bound by regulation made in Brussels. It's ridiculous that British courts have in some occasions been overruled by EU court. Britain needs to regain it's independence and former glory. Make Britain great again, a Great Britain.

NB: Things have become "sooo bad" in Britain that recently an "immigrant Pakistani muslim" was elected as London mayor (of course helped greatly by the huge immigrant population). The conservatives must be crying in their bedrooms every night.

Sterling up more than 1 percent as odds shift towards "Remain" - Reuters News

23-JUN-2016 12:39:31
LONDON, June 23 (Reuters) - Sterling gained more than 1 percent to a 2016 high against the dollar in morning trade in London as bookmakers' odds shifted in favour of a vote for remaining in the European Union in Thursday's referendum.

Betting exchange Betfair showed odds of around 15 percent for a vote to leave, down from more than 40 percent a week ago before the killing of British lawmaker Jo Cox.

The pound gained 1.2 percent on the day to as high as $1.4889 before pulling back to $1.4855.

One-month implied volatility of sterling, shown in prices of currency options, fell to around 19 percent from 25 percent on Wednesday, also an indicator of a drop in the chances of extreme moves in the pound over the next 24 hours.

As I post this the GBP is down 11% against the $. Word is that it has not been this low in 30 years - since 1985. My question is, what exactly is causing the GBP to weaken? What are the actual elements at play? I'm no economist so ELI5 (Explain like I'm 5). Is there a chance that the markets could be manipulated?

Hooooray!!!!!! Brexit wins. I was right all along. This is the best thing that ever happened to Britain and the world, including kenya. We now need changes in Washington (#VoteTrump) so that Americans can have their country back.

We are who we are because of Britain. The British founded Kenya and laid a foundation for us. Wishing ill to Britain is like wishing ill to your mother who painfully gave birth to you.

FYI many other countries in the world like US, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, India, Pakistan, Israel etc also owe their "existence" to Britain.

Scotland won't exit the United Kingdom. They just voted the other day to remain. The issue here was that Brits were unhappy of ceding their freedom and being "ruled" by unelected bureaucrats in Brussels.

Things will work out. Even when it comes to currency Ireland uses the euro while N. Ireland being part of Britain uses the £.

the united states is a union that you voluntary join but has no exit clause! Texas has always toyed with that idea but - it's not even possible.

Please explain to me slooooowly like a five year old why this is a good thing to Britain and THE WORLD as you put it. In your analysis also remember to show how for example EU through immigration policies are causing havoc to the "natives" and i use the word native here loosely since at one point in time Britain was inhabited with people who you wouldn't call Britons.

When you point out that Americans need to get their country "back" am at a loss, back from whom? Is it that the "original" natives of the US ie American Indians want their country back?
Picture this, if the US were to lock down its borders to immigrants like trump supposes there might never be another Nikola Tesla, Einstein, Bruce Willis etc. Hehehehe even Trump himself is a son of an immigrant so what criteria exactly is to be applied here, xenophobia?

The peoples of the world have always and are constantly immigrating and i doubt they will stop soon just because you have closed off an imaginary border like Masukuma likes to put it.

The EU is in the process of making a deal with Turkey about refugees from the Middle East and Africa. One of Turkey demands is to have itś citizens freely access the EU or else it will unleash the migrants into the EU. That's blackmail. And you don't give in to blackmail even once if you are smart. Let the 'not-so-bright' fellas get blackmailed once and then several times afterwards. Greece must be ruing their missed chance.
